A bit late in the day getting started , but here we are!
I didn't do much over the weekend on my projects as I was battling allergies, but printed out a pattern to try out as a gift for my boss/friend for Christmas, so that was progress!
What is everyone else working on or what did you do over the weekend?

I'm still beavering away on my blanket and I started a new shawl yesterday www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/halstead this one except mine is in a variegated yarn in autumn colours, reds, orange and browns. I'll try to take a picture tomorrow. I also finished a small cross stitch picture that I'm really pleased with, I haven't cross stitched for years! It has a few mistakes but I don't think (I hope) they're not noticeable.

Started and finished a "chain" necklace/scarf (chain stich two yarns together until it is as long as you want and secure ends together EASY. I did make a little wrap with a button to go around it. Also got a decent jump on granny squares for a blanket I plan to make for my oldest niece (7 yrs old). I need to look into what it takes to post pictures.

Does anyone here do Tunisian crochet? I made a baby blanket about 30 years ago for my DD before I actually knew how to knit OR crochet and then I never picked up the needles to do Tunisian again. I recently got re-interested in it, so I'm wondering what kind of needles you prefer? I used a long afghan crochet hook for that baby blanket, but I'm finding that in a smaller project like a dishcloth that it's kind of heavy for my taste.
When I knit, I normally use lightweight, good quality interchangeable circulars and I see that there are both interchangeable Tunisian hooks as well as hooks that have a cord on the end rather than a long hook.
Any recommendations?

I'd love to see pics of your chain scarf, it sounds like a good way to use up some leftover yarns. burningfeather I have tried Tunisian, I used a long afghan hook and they are bit unwieldy. This lotsofcrochetstitches.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/narcissus-lace-tunisian-stitch.html? is something I've been having a play with and I like it because it doesn't curl like the solid stitches.

Any recommendations? I haven't ventured to do it yet, but it is on my list of stitches to try. I love the look of knit and thought Tunisian Crochet was the closest I could get to that without actually learning to knit.

Thanks for pointing out that stitch Lainey. I'll definitely have to give it a try. I bought a new hook with a cord yesterday at Hobby Lobby, and as I kind of suspected, it sucks. I think that given the right hook/cord, it would be my preferred way because it's not so awkward, but the darn cord was sort of stiff and wanted to curl to the point that even keeping the hook turned properly was hard. I learned that same lesson with cheap circular knitting needles, so I guess I'm not surprised. I've not given up on that style of hook just yet, but I might have to see if I can find one that is better quality from a knitting store. I really love Knit Picks circulars, so I wonder if they have a Tunisian hook that I would like?
Daisy Doodles - it's super easy. I actually don't crochet at all (I mean, I can chain and I can single crochet, but beyond that, I have to look at a very detailed video or series of drawings to do any other stitches). I have no idea what possessed me to try it 30 years ago when I didn't know a thing about either knit or crochet, but I guess I didn't know that I could fail and so I didn't!
ETA: Yay! I just checked Knit Picks and they carry interchangeable crochet hooks, so you can use the cap on the end to use them for Tunisian. And bonus - they actually fit the same cords as the interchangeable knitting needle tips, so I don't have to buy a set - just the tips that I need. I just emailed my friend that works at the closest knitting store to see if they carry them. Fingers crossed.

Burning Feather - I have been crocheting off and on since I was around 10 yrs old, but just this year picked it backed up. I STILL forget how to do stitches and have to watch videos and tuts all the time

Daisy - knitting seems easier to me in that regard. Occasionally I have to look up a specialty stitch (I can never remember if M1L/M1R goes from front to back or back to front), but generally, knitting stitches are easier to remember. I definitely want to become better at crochet though because there are some great projects out there that either combine with knitting or are crochet alone. My mom was excellent at crochet and even taught crochet and tatting, but I never took an interest to learn.

I actually finished a couple of things this week. I made a cute A-line dress for my daughter. She had picked out a cute fabric from a Dr. Seuss line and I wanted a simple pattern to make. I found just the thing on Etsy. Here's how it came out (please pardon the fact that my living room looks like a trash heap - my parents have been visiting for three weeks and I've been spending time with them instead of picking up after the kids ): I also finished up my quilted fall leaves table runner! I just love it! It was my first time doing binding on a quilt, so I was nervous, but it came out pretty nice. I've just ordered the fabric to make a quilted cover for my sewing machine, so hopefully that stuff gets here quickly while I'm still in the mood!

I started working on some tea towels last night while watching Sleepy Hollow. The pattern looks crooked but it is just the tension on the lap frame that is skewing it.

Thanks, Daisy. The last time I had these, I also had a flare-up of my MS, so I'm worried about that. With all of the stress right now, all I want to do is sit in the corner and stitch quietly.

You guys are so talented! I so want to knit but I find it hurts my hands so bad so I stick to crocheting. Here is a blanket I just finished for my Aunt's Grandbaby.

I could use some opinions also. I am making a blanket in a bright blue for my bosses grandson. I can pick between these two patterns. My husband likes one and my daughter likes the other so I need a tie breaker

I love them both, but I am leaning towards the one on the right (the blue one). It looks more durable, but either would be cute!

I hope it is just an isolated issue and you don't end up with a MS flare up. I have a sweet friend that had MS and her flare ups were really bad, so I know how hard that can be. She sure doesn't miss those days!

Angie I hope you don't have a flare up and Alibama I like the one on the right the blue one as it looks more masculine but the other one is really cool as well.
I haven't done anything lately but I did buy a pattern today for a cowl. Fisherman's wives cowl I am hoping to pick up the supplies this weekend - I need needles as I don't have any large enough and of course yarn and some buttons. It looks like it will be a quick fun knit as I love cables.

School & homework, plus the boy's activities have been keeping me busy. Thankfully, the hat I've been working on is in the knit all rows for 7 inches phase. And, I can knit while riding in the car. Odd, since I can't read in the car.
So, the hat is coming along nicely. 1/2 inch from starting the decrease.
The scarf is stalled, because I can only work on it at home. There's been no time. Today is the first day I haven't been ran ragged.
Since the hat is almost to the stage I need to concentrate, I picked up some yarn for another scarf. Chose a simple pattern so that I can take it on the road. Still haven't started it though.

Here are my ear warmers. The girls wore them last night and were very appreciative.
This weekend I'm going to a seminar so will hopefully have lots of time to work on some projects for our church auction next month.

flute4peace - those ear warmers are so cute! Great job spitfiregirl - That shawl is lovely! I am going to save it to my TBD pile for when I have the skill to work with lace weight yarn.
