One of my big goals this year is to pare down my scrap supplies to a manageable level. I feel that I may be more likely to scrap if the room is not so overwhelmingly full. I also would just like to feel more comfortable using that room as a guest room. I know it will need to be used a bit more often this spring.
Today was round 1 which brings me to question 1. I came across my original Quickutz die cutter and all the dies including a few alphabets. I know people have electronic cutters today. Is there any use for this sort of thing any more? Should I just toss it? Bring it to Goodwill? Can I sell it?
Question 2 is my mom's stamp collection. I never was much of a stamper. I am thinking that is something that I should just sell as a lot. Maybe on EBAY? I don't really want to take the time to photograph each and every set though now that I am talking about it, I might need to pull out a rare set or two like the original Girl Scout stamps that were not really Girl Scout approved. Someone might want those. Maybe. I just don't know.
It's terrible how hard it is for me to throw things out just because I did buy them and thought I would use them at some point. But I have to get control of the clutter and the supplies like this. Considering moving for the first time in a very long time in the future.. not the immediate future though that could happen.
Oh, and I already donated some boxes of supplies to a kindergarten teacher in a very underserved community. I have a small box put aside for the hospital as well... so far. I'm sure that will grow!

I think schools and childcare centers might use Quickutz cutters for bulletin boards and such. You can always post as a lot and see what happens. I usually sell things on FB garage sale sites. You could look up Quickutz cutters on ebay and see what's out there.
I could totally see someone buying a lot of misc stamps. Or break up into a couple of lots. I think you'd be able to sell those.
Good luck on your purging! I find that if I have limited supplies it really spurs my creativity and eliminates some creative block from having too many choices.

I’m struggling with doing this as well... I haven’t papercrafted in years but I keep all the stuff. I did do a huge purge a few years ago when we moved..donated a ton to the local Head Start (never again will I deal with them again though). For me it’s easier to just toss out then to worry about selling it off.

Do not throw it away! Put it on the For Sale or Trade board, please.
I still use mine all the time. I've purchased 2 replaced squeeze tools on Ebay. I have an electronic cutter, too, but still love the simplicity of the Quickutz.

You can post on the board here (on the scrappy side). Some of the scrappers here might want some of the QuicKutz or the stamps!

Is there any use for this sort of thing any more? Should I just toss it? Bring it to Goodwill? Can I sell it? Those dies also work in the die cutting machines. You aren't limited to using the handpress for them. I plan on keeping mine. If you aren't going to use it... then you could try selling it. I think I would list it on Etsy before eBay myself.

I am having my Quickutz buried with me. My friends know this and will take care of it for me. I am holding onto mine because I hate electronic cutters. My silhouette freaked me out and I couldn’t figure out why I needed to reverse an image to make it cut. I can’t see it on the software and I can’t visualize. I can write this whole paragraph in other languages but Silhouette I just can’t do.

I'd be happy to take some old QK dies off your hands! Please post them on the For Sale board. I have all the latest and greatest, but still reach for my QK/alpha dies. It's just quicker for me not to have to change tasks for my brain from being creative to computers.
As for the rest, put it up on the board. You never know. You can always donate them later if they don't sell. Mail only in pre-priced packaging to make it easier (like the USPS Priority one rate boxes.)

I still use my Quickutz, and would be interested in buying your alphas depending on which ones they are! There are also large collections on ebay. As for the stamps you could do a little at a time. Good luck!
I plan to do a purge of paper, stickers and other misc supplies, hoping to donate it to "Make a Wish" or to a local teacher.

Yes, there are many of us QuicKutz users still out here! I got rid of the old handle tools years ago, but I still have all my dies and use them with my QK Revolution or Sizzix Big Shot. Someone will want those alphas for sure.
For the stamps, I would go through them and pull out anything with sentimental value, $$ value, or maybe a few you’d just like to keep, and sell the rest as a lot on eBay or Etsy. Or donate them wherever you’d like.

When I did a purge of my scrapbook supplies I found an organization in Maryland (just around the Beltway from where I live) that helped women with cancer make photo albums and scrapbooks for their families. Although I would have driven it all up to Maryland the woman who I spoke to on the phone said "absolutely not! I will come and pick it all up, we are so grateful to have whatever we can get."

I want to echo go post on the for sale or trade part of the SBR board. I found someone there who wanted a QK and paid the shipping for me to send it to her. There is also a post by gramma to donate to the women who lost everything in the Camp Fire in California.

I sold my Quickutz handle and some dies on the For Sale and Trade board here in this site. I highly recommend it.
I’d also be very interested in stamps from brand name companies, such as Stampin Up.
The For Sale board is very friendly and easy to do, plus no fees are involved.

When I contacted the local Head Start lady who overseas the ones in my area I explained I had a large donation to make of craft supplies (all of which was listed as things they needed already on their page) and when could I set up a time to drop off..she emailed back saying she needs a list of things I’m donating..well this is where I started getting bothered because I was on a timeline (we were moving) but it was whatever so I gave her a general list of things like 12x12 scrapbook paper, glues, tape runners, Thicker packs, storage bins, stickers, etc. She then emailed back asking for brands of these products, amounts used out of EACH of the used items and how much was new unopened....so at this point I think I’m being punked or something..so I email her and explain that it would be easier to just take pics because I was working on a timeline and I had far too much stuff to inventory..so I attached pics. Then she emailed back saying she couldn’t really tell from the pics how old the stuff was...so instead of just backing out of the whole thing like I should have done I emailed her back and said it was all stuff within the last 5-6yrs. She said ok and gave me a drop off time. DH and I get there and the girl who met us outside (different girl not the email one) was completely rude and acted like we were a bother to her..she told us “you will need to bring all this in” very rudely...then she starts questioning if I got this approved...I explained I had. I have a feeling my experience was not the norm since a few people that suggested I donate to Head Start said their Head Start is nothing like that...I’ll never deal with the local ones here again though.

Hang on to the cutter until you know the alphs are gone... if they are not gone the handle should go with the alphs. I donated to a middle school teacher who has scrapbooks club after school 2 days a week. Her 'kids' love alphas and cutting their own. They are using big old RED Sizzix at the 'cutting table'

NoWomanNoCry - That is appalling! No, I shouldn't think that's the norm. Thank you for spelling it out for me. It helped me & hopefully, it gave you a small chance to vent as well.

The QK dies will probably sell on our FSOT board - depending on what you have, I might come out of the freezer myself.
Ditto for stamps sets (you have Girl Scout ones?)

I am also in the DMV area, and may have some things to donate. This sounds like a great cause.

Not to hijack but this has inspired to finally go through ALL the stamps I bought at a garage sale. I don't stamp but I unloaded ALL her stuff for $20.. which included around 600 or more stamps. I think I am going to put some movies on this weekend (it's snowing too so I won't feel guilty..haha).. and just make a master list as best as I can and start here and see what I can sell. I have a feeling this will take awhile!

I am about to do a major purge and I'm sending my stuff overseas to an elementary school in a rural area. In sure the kinder or other teacher can use the excess stuff I will send. I'm sure there are teachers in your area who can use your stuff. I'd post it on Nextdoor to see if there is interest.
