That cats do, in fact, have paw preference- as in right or left pawed. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg) What about you, what have you learned today?

I learned the 5yo is probably starting a growth spurt. This kid who usually eats like nothing hasn't stopped eating since he got home from kindergarten today. Picture The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Today I learned that: When you go for Thai food and the menu says moderately spicy believe it. The waiter said it wasn't spicy. Believe the menu.

I learned to ALWAYS look on the bed before you get in it because one of your cats might have puked on the sheets. YUCK! Luckily I saw it before I climbed on in.
OP, that is funny about the cat and paw favoring. I think this would be true. My Siamese, Spike, always uses the same paw to dip into the fish bowl before taking a drink (he does this with other water sources he finds too). He must have snorted water up his nose one too many times. LOL

Horseshoe crabs are living fossils and are "bled" (but returned back to the water) for research purposes. This lesson was provided by a 9 year old girl who brought me a horseshoe crab shell as a thank you for me gifting her a hula skirt.

I learned that when holding a 4 month old baby boy on your hip, if his diaper isn't in the right spot and he pees it WILL come through onto your shirt. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg)

I learned that I have a Spanish switch like Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 3 and sometimes in the middle of class it up gets flipped. That has to be why my kids just look at me with blank looks when I'm trying to teach adding and subtracting fractions right?? ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg)

I learned I just can't get used to being unemployed. The company I worked for shut down after 25 years. I have the luxury of not being in a hurry to find another job, but I can't relax and enjoy it.

I learned it's incredibly difficult to find seashore/seashell themed items that aren't tacky. SIGH. Ditto for San Francisco 49ers items. I also learned that I am getting smaller even though I've not lost weight. Which weirds me out.

I learned that OSHA has not updated their safety requirements on silica (which is every where and then some btw) since 1971, and the new proposal last September to update the standards was squashed in a big fat hurry. Congress, bought and paid for by lobbyists yet again. (The silica standards is the new thing I learned, the congress thing I already new more or less.)

Today I learned that if I squish a doughnut when closing the box back up that I think I must eat it also because I don't want it to suffer from the injuries I inflicted.
But last Wednesday I learned that the most common mammal on earth is the bat.

I learned that when I have PMS, watching a story about a coach sending a Michigan football player back out into a game after he's suffered a concussion makes me cry with anger. My husband thinks I'm insane.

I learned that my uncle owns 13 cars. He is a mostly retired self employed auto mechanic. He has a Corvette purchased new (don't know what year) and the rest are older, likely antique Fords that he has tinkered with over the years.

I learned how to give subcutaneous fluids to a sick foster kitten. Oh, poor thing. Hugs. I am pretty sure my cat is right pawed, but now I can't wait to get home to double check.

Also that even though my cat has a swollen paw and can barely walk he is sneaky enough to get outside, kill a dove and leave it for me as a gift or maybe a warning...he is pretty mad that he can't go outside, he got in a fight or got bit by something vet is not sure. After $500 in vet bills and X-rays it's not broken just swollen and hot. Antibiotics and keep him inside and in a crate to keep him off of it. I let him out of the crate last night to cuddle with me. My son went outside to get something out of the car. Mischief did a three legged sprint out the door and across the yard. He was meowing at my window at 2am to be let in. When I came out this morning there was the dead dove on the doorstep. He leaves me "gifts" at least once a week. Frogs, lizards, birds and even a baby bunny. The bunny made me cry:(

Today I learned that the answers to almost all worksheets and tests put out by the publishing companies can be found online by students with a quick google search. Sigh. They even make the answers in red so you can mindlessly copy them down. No thinking necessary! ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

That dogs can get tons of ticks and eggs in their ears. I don't have a dog, but saw a picture online when I was looking something else up. Now I want to puke and can't get the gross image out of my head. I need eye bleach.

I learned that my dog does have manners. After she found a partially eaten squirrel (and had started gnawing on it) that some other animal left on our property that she was polite enough to vomit on the hardwoods and not the carpet. Gross but could have been much worse.
