Does anyone have any ideas or inspiration for including photos in albums outside of pockets?
I use 6x8 albums and have done for the last three years - I love the size and it generally caters to all my needs. I am working on a project where I want to include some full size 6x4 photos (or larger) but I don't want to create a whole additional pocket page spread to include them.
Does anyone else do the same? Do you laminate the photos? And how do you attach them in?

I just print them out and adhere them back to back, punch holes and put them in the album. You could also laminate, I guess, or fuse down a page protector, if you didn't want them to be out of a sleeve, but I find they are just fine out of a page protector. Brandi Kincaid and others have used a tab punch to create little joiners. She has some examples on her IG.

I usually make a pocket folder and put them in there. If I'm afraid they'll slide out, I'll make a cover/flap to keep them in.

I punch holes in the photo or attach it to a cardboard piece and punch holes in that. I don't worry about the photo itself - I can always reprint it if necessary. It should probably be noted that I'm the only person who looks at my albums, so no sticky little fingers... If you look through this post you can see several examples of what I do - this entire 6x8 album is outside of page protectors. ETA the Dec 24 entries include some photos I just stuck back and front to a piece of card. The Dec 26th page is a 5x7 photo with a postcard on the back, holes punched straight through. http://instagr.am/p/BsWFUzmjm3T

Essie Ruth has really wonderful ideas in her mini books and travel notebook that can be creatively modified to fit in an album with attachers or hole punched. You can make your own attachers from scrap paper and reinforce washi tape too. Mini BooksTraveler's Notebook

I use single photo page protectors from Simple Stories. I don't know how to link anything. But they are the SNAP collection, and come in horizontal and vertical sizes. I have to punch a couple of extra holes since I'm using the 6 ring 6x8. I know what you mean about not wanting to create a while additional spread.

I would not laminate photos. The single use page protectors sound ideal.

For extra fun, you can also mount the occasional photo on clear acetate that you punch into the album for a floating effect. Same floating effect can be achieved by fusing/sewing in a photo in a larger page protector.
