I like the 6x6 and 8x8 but now I’m seeing all sorts of sizes like M’s 4.25 x 7. I want at least 6” in both directions please, not to mention they are messing up my storage system! How does everyone else feel about all these new pad sizes?

I think they are being narrow minded by switching up their sizes. I can always cut a larger piece of paper, but if I am having to piece together smaller sizes just to complete a project, I will just pass on it all together.

I prefer 12x12 for both scrapbooking and card making. I do occasionally use the 6x6 and 8x8 sizes for card making, but I use 12x12 more, even for card making.

I don't think I've ever bought a 6x6 pad and I've only ever bought one 8x8 (and that was at a yard sale). I'm an 8.5x11 scrapper (and occasionally an 8x8 scrapper) but I prefer to buy 12x12 pads

I know that Hobby Lobby has lots of smaller pads, but I think they are card making and matting your pictures. I see lots of 4.5 x 6.5 or 5 x 7 pads. I only buy a 6 x 6 if I love the line and have it in the 12 x 12. The smaller size has fewer pages (maybe 12-24) and the prints are smaller so they make cute embellishments like banners.

There are people on YouTube that use 6 x 6 pads to create 12 x 12 layouts. Some of them are pretty cute and then you don't have to invest in a large pad.

I'm over 6x6 and not interested in anything smaller than 12x12. I don't like feeling limited because of the smaller size and trying to be creative with it. We think of it as just scrapbook paper but it's used by all kinds of paper crafters. Those sizes appeal to those who decorate their planners, make cards, and make snail mail flip book type things. There are tons of YouTube videos and Instagram pics showing snail mail exchanges. It's cute but also not my thing.

I prefer 12x12 paper, though I mostly scrap 8.5x11 inch. I do scrap some 12x12.
I have bought 6x6 pads in the past, but I prefer 12x12 pattern paper pads.
I don't buy other sizes.

Oh look...Michael's is jumping on the Traveler's Notebook fad, too. Sadly, I think those paper pads are the right width but are a bit too short.

I generally prefer 6x6 pads, though I do purchase all sizes... As a cardmaker, the gigantic prints on 12x12 pads are not as useful; usually, the prints are scaled down to a more useful size (for me) on the 6x6.
I totally feel you, OP, on the storage issue! I have one type of storage for 12x12, and another type for "smaller" pads. My "smaller" pad area is a hot mess because of all the different sizes.

I’m guessing for travelers notebooks or cards 🤷♀️ I mostly get 12x12 and I do have quite a few 6x6. The only odd size I have is a Tim Holtz cardstock one and a Vicki Boutin one, since that was the only size they had. I rarely use my 6x6 pads

I must be the odd one out. 12x12 pattern paper sometimes paralyzes me creatively, I think because I’m afraid I’m going to waste it especially if it’s a favorite. I actually prefer to work with scraps, so I love the smaller sized pads so I don’t have to always cut down bigger papers. I loved the Merry Days 6x8 pad this year, that seems to be an optimal size for me.

I prefer the 12x12 size, but sometimes I really like the size of the patterns in the smaller pads of papers. I've only bought some from warehouse sales knowing it is a harder size for me to use AND remember to use.

I don't have many, but I use mini CD crates for paper pad storage. I've been able to fit 6x6, 8x8, and 6x8 in one crate. The 8x8 has to be angled a bit to fit, but it works.

I prefer 6x6 and 6x8 as a cardmaker with limited storage space. I have a "system" (sort of) for cutting 6" papers into useful sizes for cardmaking. I can use most of the offcuts that way and turn one pad into lots of cards. If I have 12x12 papers I find it harder to remember to use them and the scale is often difficult to work with. 12x12" pads are just waaaaay too much paper for me to use from one collection most of the time (since I can cut each 12" paper into 6 usable card fronts). I usually try to cut 12x12 papers into 6x6s or 4x6s right away. 6x8 is kinda fun - I wouldn't mind if there were more that size. 8x8 I could work with, but I rarely see those.
But 4.25x7 doesn't sound very useful to me. Was it a Recollections branded pad? I haven't been shopping for quite a while so I haven't seen any odd sizes.

In general I don't care for paper pads, because I generally like about half the paper in them. For me to buy one, it has to be on sale or I have a coupon to use. I prefer 12 x 12 because I can cut it down to the size I need or want to use.

I love 6x6 and 6x8 paper pads for mini albums, 6x8 layouts and occasionally for 12x12 layouts. I buy them all the time and use them a lot. I love the smaller prints. I still buy lots of 12x12 paper too, and love to use that. I rarely ever buy 12x12 paper pads, just single sheets from the collections that I will use or love.

I like 12x12 or letter size. I can always cut down larger sheets, but small ones cannot be made to work for many of my projects. That said I do have a few postcard and 6" stacks hanging around simply because they came along with other finds. I do a lot of work with scraps whenever possible, and don't dip into the paper piles that often unless I need something really specific. Even having four general sizes is an annoyance for storage.

i like the different size options. sometimes i like the patterns scaled down better. also they often feature cut aparts. i use a bullet journal type planner so being able to slap in a piece of PP without having to cut it down in any way is a nice option. i am convinced i will use some of the other sizes in my scrapping (PL or traditional in all the sizes) at some point, just hasn't happened yet as i've been sticking with very basic PL style lately.
give me all the paper sizes!

I buy 12x12 for scrapbooking but use 6x6 for cards and embellishments because of the smaller scale print. I was wondering what all the odd-sized paper pads were for, too! I think I saw some 6x8 pads... are TNs 3x8, so you could cut the 6x8 page in half to use for Traveler;s Notebooks? I also saw some of the paper pads that weren't QUITE large enough for matting a photo; don't remember the exact size, but I do remember thinking I couldn't do ANYthing useful with that size paper. My first thought with some of these odd-sized papers was, "do they think people who craft don't own a paper cutter?" and my second thought was, "are they trying to cater to people who are NOT crafters, and those people just want to use the papers as is, already pre-cut?" (and not have to BUY a paper cutter) but it's probably just a $$ thing. Those paper pads are $6-8 or more, and one sheet of Recollections-brand 12x12 paper is less than $1. If I buy the paper pad and only LIKE / USE half of the pages in it (which I have done, lol), then I'm spending more $$ than just buying the individual 12x12 pieces I want. maybe?? (not sure; math is not my strong suit- it's just a guess.)

I mostly buy 12x12 open stock paper, but will by the pad if I like a collection and it's the only way I can get it. I will buy 6x6 pads so that I have some spare pieces that coordinate, but my favourite "alternative" size is the 6.5 x 6.5" pads from Kaisercraft. It's big enough to frame a photo and cut out some embellishments, but not so big that I end up with lots of scraps. But, much like JRock, just give me ALL THE PAPER.

Recollections brand at Michael's has a lot of the 4.5x7 pads (why 7 inches? why not just 6.5 and make it a matting size?) and I also just saw one that is- seriously, get this: it's 5.8 in x 8.8 inches. WTH?!? oooh, wait- are some planners 5x8?
Is that extra bit of paper on these dimensions just for a bit of slop to make sure the paper will fit in different sized page protectors, I wonder? Still, if I was going to buy any of them, that extra bit I'd have to trim off is wasteful- it's not enough to DO anything else with, in my opinion.

I like 4x6, 6x6 or 6x8 for project life. But for traditional pages I prefer the 12x12, even if i am going to make a smaller layout--I tend to scrap 9x12 or 8 1/2 x 11 most frequently. I think manufacturers have started downsizing albums because it's cheaper to ship them, so if people don't need the larger size there is less of a shipping cost to order online. I'm not sure of the pads that aren't in sizes that work for project life or standard album sizes though (4x6, 6x6, 6x8, 8x8, 81/2x11, 9x12, 12x12), anything else seems odd.
