another one for me is sugarless gum. I chew gum to replace the urge to snack at work, and I have probably 6-8 different kinds in my purse at any given time... if I even THINK I'm running low, I'll grab another pack or two when I'm going through the checkout line. (sadly, right now I don't like chewing gum as much, though, because I had one of my lower back molars removed last fall, and the 'chewing' experience isn't as satisfying with that tooth missing, lol.)

Coffee. I have to have coffee every day. I make my coffee in a small french press at home that holds enough for 2 mugs. I have 2 in the morning and 1 in the evening. I use raw sugar (1 teaspoon) in each mug. I don't drink anything else except water. I quit soda about 7 years ago. I love coffee and I am not a morning person. Don't even try talking to me until I've had at least one cup of coffee. Reading and Books. I adore reading. I must read every day. I check out my books from the local library but have built up quite a collection at home. I donate those I no longer want but still add to my collection. According to goodreads.com I read 82 books in 2018. I remember the day and when I learned to read-when the words came together in my mind and made sense to me. It was like deciphering a code, but it was also like magic to me. I was so excited! I couldn't wait for the school day to finish so I could run home to tell my mother. The book was one of those Dick and Jane books with their little sister Sally.

I think I spent $0.99, but swore never again! I should use the time on the treadmill, LOL.

Add me to the lip balm addicts- Carmex. I go through phases, usually it's some type of food that I eat everyday until I get sick of it. But right now I'm doing pretty good-except I need to give up oatmeal 3-4 times a week and go back to 1 or 2.

Good pens, it’s an obsession. I misread this as good “penis” and was about to give you props for your honesty . . . Currently, I’m addicted to adding to my yarn stash, hot tea to start every morning, and a Dr. Pepper 10 to keep me going through the day.

OMG - thats terrible. I'm so sorry for your loss. How did that happen? I take 1/4 of my doctor's recommended daily dosage. The part that I'm obsessed about is that I have to know I have some even if I don't take it. I have a lot of anxiety and I need to know I have my safety net. Cindy She was in a medically-supported detox program, but she had a seizure from the withdrawals and passed away. I'm so sad to hear that happened to your friend. I worry about my BFF because she is truly addicted to them.

wow... i realize when reading these contributions to the thread, i may have more. i, too, love ice and ice cold drinks. my dream one day is to have a fridge that has the in-freezer ice maker. then i will know i have "made it". those are thrilling to me because the longer skinnier cubes fit in my costco knock off swell water bottle perfectly and the bottle keeps it icy cold for hours. i drink a TON more water when it's cold. i even drink white wine with ice. i figure i drink less... it's almost like a wine spritzer. i guess i started the thread because my reaction to not having the wint-o-green mints was *visceral* and totally surprised me. i KNOW i need a cup of tea each morning when i get up. my kids know two things: 1/ will ask me if i have had my tea yet before badgering me about something in the morning 2/ will ask if i have already had my cup of tea before polishing off the last of a bag of milk for their cereal i have them well trained. the mint thing kinda took me by surprise.

McDonald's diet Coke. Must be McDonald's. It's my manna from heaven. Lol This is when I knew my addiction was real and ridiculous. I would drive through McDonalds every morning for a large $1 Diet Coke. I knew all the people at the drive thru window by name. There was a half a dozen times over a two month period toward the end of last year when they were out of Diet Coke. How can you be McDonalds and be out of Diet Coke?? I had to drive through Burger King, pay 2.5X as much for sub par Diet Coke and be late for work. The last time was right after Christmas. Now, I've made it 17 years never raising my voice to my daughter, but on this morning I had had it. When they said they were out of Diet Coke, I said, loudly, "oh my god, are you SERIOUS?!" And just drove away. I am so embarrassed, I can't go back. Thus began my umpteenth time of quitting. I haven't been back to McDonalds since and have slowly been weaning myself off Diet Coke every morning (I've been buying it in bottles), because it's not the same. Today is the longest I've made it. I drank a caffeine free Diet Coke at noon. I guess it took being humiliated. I do know everyone at my drive through but I don't think I've had a meltdown about them being out of it. Lol I do admit to getting really upset when I got a regular coke instead of diet. 😂

This scares the absolute bejeezus out of me. I have been struggling hard to get off Lyrica for the past several months because it started causing life quality diminishing and medically dangerous side effects. The withdrawal symptoms have been pure hell. My neurologist is very concerned about the possibility of seizures because I started having severe myclonic jerks and tremors after dropping to a lower dose. I was also having severe gait abnormalities (ataxia), visual disturbances, vertigo, and a worsening of my difficulty in speaking (aphasia). The amount of neurologic symptoms I started having when I started tapering off were so extreme that my doctor had to rule out another stroke, and pseudotumor cerebri. So to reduce my seizure risk, I had to level my dose back off until my neurologic withdrawal symptoms stabilized and then start a very slow and gradual tapering off schedule. But I'm still at risk of a seizure until I'm completely off the medication and it's been out of my system for a while. Lyrica is not supposed to do this, but I'm not the only patient my neurologist has treated who experienced severe complications from withdrawing off it. I tried to find a medically supported detox program but nothing like that exists for Lyrica. At least not for patients taking therapeutic doses via a valid prescription. I've gone on and off xanax and tramadol at will several times over the years without any withdrawal symptoms. But Lyrica, the supposed non-addictive drug? Absolutely wrecked my shit. The water is still cold but would more ice make it even better? Probably.

Coffee lip balm Makeup, shopping for makeup & watching youtube makeup videos. My family makes fun of me all the time. Cereal (I go through phases with what kind I eat, right now it's Special K apple cinnamon crunch or Chocolate Frosted Flakes.) Milk chocolate (preferably Cadbury mini eggs, but I'll take it in other forms when I don't have any of those ) Kindle Paperwhite (I can't imagine not reading for a little while before going to sleep. I make sure to take it with me any time I might be stuck waiting somewhere.)
