this sums things up well for me. Yes!! The Randall running for council storyline never made sense, nor did Beth being fired for no particular reason. I can't also can't stand Kate. It is like this show has a huge list of sensitive topics that they are trying to check off and that annoys me. A few sensitive topics, fine. That is real life. Every single thing they can think of - too much.

this sums things up well for me. 100% spot on!! Especially the part about Kate!! She would have taken off and sulked and probably had a stress related medical condition that might have threatened the pregnancy if Toby got rid of something precious to her. And I hated how Beth caved on the election issue. I still don't even know how he was eligible to run, why the election was in January and that it was absolutely absurd that he won. this sums things up well for me. This too. People on another message board were trying to figure out what's wrong with Beth after she was fired and in the future clips and were having a hard time coming up with an issue that hasn't already been done on this show in it's third season.

I have the series DVRed and have yet to watch an episode. It's a series that needs focus so I've saved it for some yet to be planned crafting marathon.
Reading this thread makes me wonder if it's worth starting since a lot of the cliffhangers are known. After two years and I must not be interested, right?

I watched last night's episode but found it boring. I almost stopped watching this show several weeks ago but decided to give it one more try. I'm thinking now I'm done with it. It's approximately 45 minutes I could spend watching and enjoying something else, or doing something else. For me this show has run it's course.

Something that bothers me about a lot of TV shows is money. I know Randall and Beth had good jobs and probably a nice nest egg, Kevin is a famous actor so he makes big money, but what the hell do Kate and Toby do? Kate can't be making much money doing singing telegrams.
I see TV shows all the time (especially when DD was into a lot of the disney pre-teen type shows) where these families are living in these beautiful homes, but like Dad is dead and single mom is a meter maid or something and they live in a house that. Or dad is an exterminator but mom stays home and they live in a house that I KNOW they can't afford lol! I want to see these people fret over why the power bill is so damn high this month like I do!

My BFF and I watch together and we have also been debating about giving it up this season. For us, it’s the Vietnam story line. We just don’t care. We don’t understand the need to go that far back. Jack died. He’s dead. Now we know how he died. Move on. I like the current time story lines of the Randall, Kate, and Kevin. Every time they go back to Jack and Rebecca I pick up my phone and zone out of the show. I’m the same way. And I care even less about the brother. I'm the opposite. I love a good generational family drama... This is why I can read Tolstoy and never ever want it to end, or Gabriel García Márquez .. I just love love love it. That said.. the first season had me on the edge of my seat and tissue box. I'm kind of just watching now to watch it play out. I'm more interested in the background of why the family was the way it was, especially with this Godlike perfect father, and how it will affect them to know he is human. I couldn't care less about Kate and Toby or Randall and Beth.

I'm another one ready to give it up. I think for me it used to be a nice mix of serious, funny and lightheartedness. Now it just all seems so serious. I get it's a drama, but no one seems happy on there anymore. I used to love the relationship between Randall and Beth, but that seems to have changed this season. Yes, it could be the way the story line is turning but this season so far just had such a different feel to it.

Randall hasn't worked in a year, Beth hasn't worked in months but I suppose they could have a pretty good savings to hold them over for a bit. But..they have a nice house and 3 kids so it can't be cheap so it seems like they'd be going through that savings pretty quickly. But we say that about Kate and Toby all they time...they don't work and the she's now stopped the telegram thing and now is going back to school - how do they afford that and what kind of work does Toby even do? Where they heck did he get enough money to get that custom built-to-order stadium made? I know it is a TV show but that really bugs me too.

Jack left really good life insurance, which Randall invested for them all. Randall probably took care of kevin’s Money too. Kate worked for Kevin as his assistant for awhile, so he probably paid her very well. Again Randall would have invested for her. Randall probably made millions dealing in such a narrow futures market that he was working in. There would not be to many investors that specialized.
