I just finished listening to the Dr Death podcast. Is this a similar situation? Or are these supposedly accidental overdoses, as in he got the dosage wrong or something?

It's illegal, so of course I think he should face consequences for his actions. But I also think hastening death in a patient who is in the death process should not be illegal (but OF COURSE even if legal, should not be done without consent of the family or an advance directive requesting that course of action). The article linked by MichyM indicates that all of those to whom he administered overdoses were near death.

I was wondering when I first read the first post whether this was a case of mercy killing rather than a case of planned 1st degree murders and it looks like that's what this might have been. I agree with Busy above. While I myself would not agree to having my death hastened because it's against my religion, I also don't see it as a problem for others who want this and think for adults who are in their right mind and at this stage in life that it should be legal. Sadly in our country so far it isn't. I feel for this doctor who I think was trying to do what he could for his patients. Of course I am assuming that. And because it is still illegal here he will have to face up to what he did legally.
