In an attempt to curb my supply buying addiction I am trying to make some of my own supplies. So far I’ve made:
patterned envelopes rubons printed tissue for collage prints for collages supply storage wreath builder templates (super easy with cameo) stencils/masks stamps gelly plate (great to see if I liked technique before investing in real one)
so what have you made, and do you still use them?

I scan images I have painted and create my own paper to print as needed.

I make embellishments from my scraps and from other oddments I find for future projects. Also I make stencils and I make *enamel* dots from hot glue with mica powder or pearl nail varnish when cooled down.

Stamp cleaner - glycerine, water & baby shampoo. Die storage - thrifted planner binders, chipboard, magnetic sheets. Die cutting plates - retired kitchen cutting boards Cling mounts - reused vinyl, double sided tape and craft foam foam squares / pop-ups - craft foam & double sided tape Paper storage - sheet protecters, clear folders, magazine holders, all from thrift Stamp storage - thrifted zippered binder, heat fused custom sized pockets from page protectors
Planning on trying to make my own pigment inks when the pads I have start to get dry, though at the rate I stamp that'll take a while.

Ummm, I rarely use alpha stickers. I did make enamel dots, but I forget to use them. I'm more of a crafty scrapper than creative.

I add acrylic paint to texture paste etc to give it the color I want, saves buying in multiple colors. I use foam sheets and cut pieces off instead of using pop dots. I’m trying to make my own alcohol inks using liquid rit dye, so far its not what I wanted though- definitely not vibrant like Tim Holtz’s. If funds allow down the road, I may get some of his.

I made my own texture paste last Cardtober, and that was good because I used it on 2 cards and then never touched it again. I made little embellishment clusters with leftover bits for DD. I have lots of make-do storage - metal loaf pan, boxes, that kind of thing. Some doesn't work out, like the magnetic die storage I made out of a half-broken 6x12 binder, but it worked OK for a while. I use fun foam to cut out dimension for die cuts and I often use the cardboard backing from the packaging to create lower dimension - one of two sheets of thin cardboard when I don't need the full thickness of foam tape or fun foam. Does squeezing Nuvo drops onto wax paper to make enamel dots count?

Everything. I am not joking. I will not buy it unless I can make it first. I am really hard core. I think it's a geek thing too. I do make my own embellishments. My whole room is set up for embellishment making. I make a lot of my tools, especially the trendy ones. If you are interested in making something just write it down. I will probably have a recipe for it or how too.

How on earth do you make rubons? (would love to know, as they are so useful for travel journaling on the move)

When we started scrapbooking - in the olden days with "safe" paper, pens and scissors and some Mrs. G. stickers -- we made a lot of our own embellishments. I mean, when we learned to "embellish" die cuts with layering, chalk and ink it was a big deal! Punch art -- DANG .. the things we could create with punched out shapes! And the whole "tear bear" thing was from creating embellishments! So - I've used a lot of long standing paper arts ideas - weaving paper, origami, iris folding, that fancy paper cutting from Germany - to create embellishments -- and still do. And - really - that is what some creators like Shimelle do - the embellishment clusters for her are bits of paper, maybe a purchased die cut, a button.

Just storage. I recently discovered that these dessert boxes from the freezer section are perfect for holding exactly 25 bottles of craft paint, and once they're full they can be stacked. Please don't ask why I have three of them. And please please please don't ask if I have more than three.

Tags. 20 years ago, I made a lot more embellishments, when it was harder to find things i wanted in stores.

You are all so clever, I need to step it up.
I have some chipboard, and I have some magnetic sheets, so I think I'll make some die storage this weekend.
There are some good youtube videos of scrappers making embellishments, like ephemera clusters, and I'd like to do that someday soon.

Knew I was forgetting some things! I make all my own boxes and envelopes. These links are great, if you have one of the Envelope Punch Boards. Other than a paper cutter and score board, I think this is the only 'crafty' specific purpose tool I own. Particularly helpful because I don't make cards in 'standard' sizes, just whatever I feel like and fits the supplies at hand. Box BusterEnvelope ExpertIt surprises me that anyone actually buys embellishments - they seem so expensive for what you get, and not hard to make most of the time. I think the 2-3 packs I own came along as freebies with some second-hand card stock, and will probably be donated at that. Definitely not my jam.

I make a lot of my own albums. Either from an old book or chipboard. I like the eclectic look in a basket, changed out per season. I have bought embellishments, but I like really simple scrapbooking. Paper, pictures, journaling and the memorabilia collected along the way. I love reading how ingenious everyone is!

I started out with little money for supplies. So I've attempted/made so much: patterned paper and transparencies, journaling cards, designer ribbon and tapes, embellishments, glimmer mist, stencils, stamps, etc. But I find I am lazier. Or maybe now that I have a stash I like the ease and quickness of grabbing it and getting it done. pas2, I've never attempted rubons. But I will say I if you made a gelatin plate out of gelatin that I personally think that is the "REAL" one. Although I was too lazy to make my own and bought one. @amayalylac, you are awesome.

I saw a video using some layered stamps from Altenew , so now I’d like to make a stamp positioner. I know there’s a post about them around here somewhere...

There's a ton of other videos for more elaborate styles on YouTube too, if you're into building projects.

I still use the homemade gelatin plates to apply a coating to inkjet printed pictures to use in decoupage and as a pad to brayer paint on. The rubons are made by printing in best quality on smooth side of a transparency (using transparency setting) and letting it dry for about 10 min. I can make custom rubons in every color but white. I haven’t done this in a very long time. You can also make overlays for photos.

Remember how we used to be able to buy books that were as thick as textbooks with tons of embellishment tutorials. I recently found one and it was so dated, lol. It was really fun to look through.
I love tear bears. Tear animals will never go out of style for me. I haven't made one in a long time. I still see fuzzy animal stickers on the market. I am like Tear Bear copycats, lol.

I use folded paper for dimension. Depending on how many layers you have more depth options than standard pop dots or fun foam or foam tape.
I use packaging for shaker card acetate.
I reverse engineered the Lawn Fawn mini pop up die instead of paying $30.

What's a Tear Bear? I can't say I've ever heard of them, and the search results are somewhat ambiguous. Is it the fuzzy mulberry paper ones?

Embri You nailed it. The little mulberry tear animals. Us girls that loved tear bears and animals would buy the thick mulberry papers and have our little steel rule brushes and make the cutest fluffiest animals. It was paper piecing heaven. I am a big paper piecing fan. We would collect coloring books to find cute patterns. I still collect coloring books to find cute paper piecing patterns.
When we have a big destash thread and people list mulberry paper I am always thinking "Send It to Me!" Here's a cute example of a cute tear animal- www.google.com/search?q=tear+bears&client=firefox-b-1&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjTr8_XsZDgAhVxq4MKHRqeB44Q_AUIDygC&biw=1600&bih=797#imgrc=7dezCf1y-VZb-M:ss I am the Queen of Perler bead melting too, lol. I just got the Ranger Melting Pot a few months back now you made me think about trying to melt perler beads in that, lol.

The only thing I really make myself is I scan or print images to use as background paper. For example, someone made my new granddaughter a Very Hungry Caterpillar outfit and I printed up a copy of the front of the book for a page.

Hm, I'm not sure I have any mulberry paper but now I may have to try and find some! I love paper piecing. Most of the things I do involve lots and lots of little layered pieces. Come to think of it I don't think I have a teddy bear die either... well, not yet!
