I picked these up at the HL clearance sale but I’m having second thoughts about keeping them. I do like the oxides and distress inks and even have a few paints and stains but I rarely use these. I also have gelatos
Does anyone actively use their markers and crayons? I’m thinking of returning them and buying a set of mini gel plates instead.

I use the markers mostly to "watercolor", just like with the distress ink pads. Color some on glass pallete, pick up with water brush. I sometimes color with them too, outlining edges of image, and filling color in with a water brush. Quick way to get some color. I picked up the distress crayons too. Have not used them yet. ETA: I also have used the markers to color directly on the stamp, then stamp image. With a platform, you can use multiple colors and restamp to get good crisp images. Google Tim Holtz Stamptember 2018. A couple different designers used this technique. Nichole Spohr was one of them: HERE

I have a bunch of the Distress Markers. I used to use them to watercolour with, but I've got so many other options for watercolouring that I haven't used them in a long time. If you watercolour and don't have any other supplies, these are a really great option.
As for the crayons... I purchased a set and sadly have never used them. I also have several gelatos that I have never used....

To me, the Distress crayons are like Gelatos. I use the Gelatos more often. I also use the Distress markers more often then the crayons, too. Mostly for watercolor techniques, but like everyone else, I have other watercolor options. I do occasionally use the markers for stamping, too.

I didn't like the crayons. I have gelatos and water colour crayons. I found they worked much easier.
The markers I enjoy.

I’m not a fan of Distress markers. Some of mine dried out when they were new, and I haven’t been able to revive them, even with the special solution.
I love my Distress Crayons. My favorite technique is to scribble on some lightly gessoed cardstock, then blend with a wet finger. Once it’s dry, dab a pattern through a stencil with a baby wipe. Easy and very artsy looking. The middle sample shows that technique.

I bought some distress markers and definitely used them but, like oaksong, mine dried up much quicker than I expected so I won't be re-buying any.

I purchased the distress crayons at HL yesterday.
The idea is to challenge myself to use mixed media, but I just don’t see me going that direction. I will probably return them.

The easiest way to use these is on watercolor paper that is gesso'd. They'll blend a lot easier.

I have the crayons, and there are definitely better products out there. I prefer my Neocolor Crayons and even my Gelatos.

I like my NeoColor crayons so I didn’t buy those. I have all the Distress markers and I like them. If I didn’t like the Distress colors so much I would say that performance wise there are better markers out there. I have refreshed most of them but a couple couldn’t be rehabbed.
