Hey Survivors! I remembered to post a thread this week! Here's what my DVR says about the episode tonight: "One tribe loses its flint and tries to barter with Jeff. Meanwhile, John Rocker's controversial past in baseball threatens his future in the game." I just have to say that, so far, I love Josh and Reed The are obviously true Survivor fans and seem like awesome guys ... and I have Reed in the Pool!!! Flint seems to be a problem for this group

Last night I watched the first episode and was so thrilled when "Twinnie" got votes off. She sure didn't have anything to say after that!!
I think it is going to be a really good season!!

Val's claim she had two idols seems strange especially since she didn't bother to look for the idol....after all, she did get the clue.

What a great episode! I was yelling and cheering at the TV almost the entire hour. Okay, first of all have you ever heard of any of the Survivors losing flint before? I can't remember it happening before (but again my memory is horrid) and it's happened over and over this season so far. I really thought it was great of Jon (was that his name?) to admit right away that he was the one who lost it to everyone. Standing up and admitting you're the one that did the bad deed took guts and I admire him a lot for that. Honestly I thought for sure he was going home tonight just for that-I mean, to lose all of that great fishing gear after such a hard reward challenge-it was so close neck to neck the entire time, to give all of that up just to get back the flint was a tough blow for the entire team. It must have been the other team that went to tribal tonight. I'm still learning who is who.
Jeremy. Oh my gosh! How could you be soooo stupid and share your clue at Exile Island with a racist like John Rocker? I honestly could NOT believe he did that. That was such a stupid move. Your wife was smart and kept her clue to herself one day one, well even if she didn't find the idol. If he had just kept that clue info to himself he would have found the idol not that horrid person John Rocker. I cannot stand that guy! I didn't know him at all from the past because I do not follow team sports, but I of course read his infamous quote and can't stand him for his racist, homophobic, and sexist attitudes. Did you hear what he said when he lost to his girlfriend in the challenge. BTW, I'm surprised you didn't hear me cheering all the way from my house to your's when he lost. Something about, "well I didn't just lose to my girlfriend, I lost to a girl" I yelled at the TV-"You sexist pig!" Oh my-how can she date him? She is gorgeous, but her IQ must be sorely lacking.
On to the immunity challenge. Oh goodie-it's a water challenge. I really love those. Oh no-it's the boring who can knock who in the water. But wait a minute, John Rocker not only gets knocked in the water but gets a bloody nose at the same time?! Now I know you heard me cheering from my house here in Maryland to wherever you were watching on that one!
The losing team treads back to their beach with their heads hanging low and they are deciding to split the votes between Val and Baylor while I'm thinking to myself, "C'mon folks, you had the discussion in the shelter while John Rocker was on Exile Island who he is. You know he's an ex pro ball player who's had his chance to make millions. Why the heck aren't you targeting him?" Maybe they want to save him for now just because of his physical strength. I guess as a team and it's very early so far that makes sense.
Anyway it looks like his true nature comes out by the reviews for next week anyway and his teammates realize even further what a jerk he is. Time will tell how long they decide to keep him around. I feel sorry that Val got voted out. BTW, Dale surprised me with his strength in that knock your opponent in the water-did you guys see that? He's the oldest guy on his team by 20 years that they talked about voting out because of his age. He's also the guy that made fire the first day with his reading glasses. I have to say I really like the guy. I think he found the first immunity idol by accident that Val had the clue for. He found something on the lid of the well and took it-I'm not sure he knew what it was at first. Can anyone confirm this?
I haven't read Dalton's review yet-I don't think it's up yet, but as usual I'm looking forward to it and to what you all have to say. Have a great night (or morning as it is 1:27 am here!)

I've been told that it was not an idol that Dale found. Makes sense since they are usually wrapped in a note that identifies them as an idol.

Why, oh why did I say "Sure, Wednesday is fine! I'll be at your Scentsy party!". Ack!! For the same reason I thought I might attend, finally, a book group at my church. ugh. Fortunately for me this was the last meeting for this particular book so I decided it was silly to go since I haven't read half the book. Next month they're starting a new one, so I have a month to make up an excuse. lol. (or, I could just watch it online the next day, which I *might* do. )

I slept so much yesterday and last night, because I feel like poo I got up at 4am and watched the episode I enjoyed the dumb good looking boys competing against each other at camp Why would anyone want to date John Rocker? He appears to have no redeeming qualities (I had no idea who he was until now)

Val's claim she had two idols seems strange especially since she didn't bother to look for the idol....after all, she did get the clue. That was stupid. Sure go ahead and claim you have one (lots of people have in the past), but don't say you have two. How the heck would she have two? She's only been to Exile Island once, she only got one clue. They don't usually have two in play buried at the camp at the same time.
I think Jeremy's only reasoning for sharing the clue with John was so that he would make sure Val didn't get voted off. I guess Jeremy doesn't have to watch out for John's girlfriend now.

Also, as much as I dislike the Twinnies I did feel sorry for the one who's left (I never remember who's who). I know twins have a special bond to begin with, and she was really upset. She seems good at challenges and looks like she's working around camp, so maybe she'll last awhile. She might grow on me a bit since she won't have her Twinnie to talk to. Much of their annoyance factor, for me, was due to the way they talked with each other. Yes, that John Rocker is a real case. ugh.

And when the votes were split, after promising to look out for Val - John Rocker goes and changes his vote to Val and says "now I'm gonna look like a liar"
Well, dude, you changed your vote to Val - you ARE a liar....

John seems like a real jerk, his gf is a walking talking advertisement for plastic surgery in my opinion.
Not sure why Val wouldn't actively try to find an idol that was dumb. Jeremy shouldn't have shared the clue either especially since he didn't know if Val was trying to find the idol still.
Not really sure how he thought John had the power to save Val, I don't think he would share an idol and he is just one vote and I doubt he would change the group's decision if they decided it was Val's time.

I liked Val in episode 1...I thought she was strong, independent and sassy.
I wished she was smart...because frankly...telling people you have TWO idols was just dumb. And she didn't even look for the idol when she got back to camp.

She may have looked for it and it wasn't shown. We only see an hour out of about 48 or more.

I didn't quite get why Val thought telling people she had two idols was a BIG move? A big move to put a big target on her. Of course they are going to vote for her just to flush out the idol. The only thing I can figure is she was thinking they wouldn't vote for her because she would just save herself but that is not what typically happens. Has she never watched the show?
And John Rocker just has to go. He certainly lives-up to his reputation of being a big jerk.

I liked last night's episode but like you guys, not so impressed with Val's game play. And to think Jeff had her picked for the win! I'm bummed because she was my dd's pick in the pool and because I like her dh, Jeremy. But honestly I didn't particularly like her in the game, right from the get-go. And the two idol thing was stupid--stupid to say and stupid for anyone believing it. I guess anything's possible though.
It was great to see John beat by his girlfriend AND great to see his true colors come out afterwards. Keep going John and dig your own grave. I have you in the pool but I do NOT want you to win (not that there's any danger of that happening).
I felt so bad for Missy, Baylor's mom. Really, how is she supposed to fight hard while her daughter is staring at her crying? Not fair. I was waiting for Baylor to say "Hah, gotcha, I'm not hurt that bad!" Frankly I was a little surprised at how she barely seemed like she could go on. I didn't see her lip swollen (and lips swell easily) so was she really hit that hard? I remember when one of the seasons Parvati was on, they had to push some cart or something and Parvati got whacked in the face good. I saw it happen and I saw her lip swell to huge proportions. I never saw her cry and never saw her have to step back and collect herself--she just kept going. I think Baylor should have sucked it up better. I guess strategically it worked out for her though since it through her mom off her game.
I don't think John sharing the clue with Jeremy was such a bad idea. He was trying to form relationships with the other tribe and find a strong ally for his wife. I thought it made sense. On Tocantins, the other season that used the two urns on Exile Island thing, they always shared the clues. Contestants were able to forge relationships and I think it helped them when the one tribe was outnumber, yet still prevailed, after the merge.

I thought that the reaction Baylor had just emphasized what a young person she is. I can't really see her as anything other than a kid. I was sorry she wasn't voted out.
I hope that Wes (?) gets the others rallied against the baseball player, for sure. I would hate to see him go much further. I laughed at him getting a bloody nose during that challenge. (I am not usually so cold-hearted, but that just seemed "right").
Oh, seeing Jeff laugh when Baylor and her mom hit heads made me laugh out loud, too.
I'm punchy from working too many OT hours lately.

Have to agree with you all on Val's game play-even though I was sorry for her husband that she went home, her game play sucked. Who lies and says they have two idols when they have zero? At least try to make it believable if you're going to lie and say you have one. That was pretty dumb. I can't believe she was Jeff's pick to win.
Jackie-I can see where you are coming from on how sharing the clue can help make alliances further on down the road especially after the merge. And I can see why and how Jeremy wanted to share the alliance with John because in his head he was looking ahead and planning on looking for someone (a male player) that he could entrust to make a deal to look after his wife. My point was why do it with John Rocker? After what that guy said that was so racist, homophobic and sexist that it got him kicked off his pro ball team-why choose someone like that? As a player (especially a minority player. If it'd been me I wouldn't have picked him-and me, since I'm a woman and he's a sexist pig I wouldn't have trusted John Rocker with a clue like that and I wouldn't have shared it with him. See where I'm coming from? That guy seems to only like white men.
I haven't read Dalton's review yet-spent all day away from home and got home after midnight so I'm going to do that tomorrow.
I also agree with you all on Baylor. Her lip didn't look swollen or split. It may have hurt a bit, but it got her Mom to fold like a deck of cards. I also agree that Baylor is VERY young, and isn't much of an asset to her team mates-physically strong I mean.

Just like in the Project Runway thread, so much to comment on!
So were the clues in the urns the same this week as they were last week? If so, Jeremy's strategy would have worked if his dippy wife had found the idol! He would have assumed his wife had already found it, so there was no harm in telling John. And having someone to look out for each other's SO, wasn't a bad plan. John even tried to execute it, but Val blew that too!
Exactly! You're just asking people to vote for you, especially if you have 2. Sheesh.
Speaking of which, why did they fall for that anyway? How often are there 2 idols in play? For that matter, Rocker had one so in his mind there were 3 flying around? Idiot.
And yes, John did vote her out in the end, but she shot herself in the foot. It really didn't matter. Sucks for his girlfriend, though. Jeremy will be sure she goes next on his team!
FWIW, while my comments may lead you to think otherwise, I cannot stand John Rocker or his plastic girlfriend. They both need to go.
And while the show is called Blood vs. Water, I think it's wrong to put a mother against her child. It's one thing to hope the team your kid is on loses, it's quite another to try to bash them & push them in the water. JMO, but I think it's just wrong.
And the flint? Really? And did they really think they were going to be able to trick Jeff/the producers w/their little swap idea? Get real.
And Baylor? She needs to go. After Rocker & his blow-up doll.
There. I think I'm done.
