I’ve been reading through the PNW snow thread and there aren’t many Oregonians on it...at least not the last three pages. Ours is coming...Friday night/Saturday. I’m in the Willamette Valley and starting Monday it looks like it’ll snow for a week! Though Portland will get some Saturday.
On Saturday I have to pick my daughter up from college in Forest Grove to take her to an audition in Portland at 4. I’m hoping that 1) the roads aren’t bad or 2) they postpone auditions!
Got stocked up on groceries today, and will supplement on Sunday.
The bummer part of all this is that the schools here only have one “freebie” snow day built into the calendar, which was used on Tuesday for our slight dusting. We already get out so late. We may have school up to the 4th of July! JK...but it will go late.
What are you doing to prepare? How much do you think we’ll really get?

I am running to grocery store on my way home, we have stuff here, but I typically by fresh produce and stuff on Sunday so in case we do get hit I want t have that on hand. We have staples and essentials, And my husband has MREs if we didn’t, but heaven forbid I should have to eat those! I did send send my husband out to get our cats dry food last night though, we have plenty of wet, but we leave dry out all the time and I was worried about them running out. I would hate to have been the crazy person fighting over the last bag Cator and Pollux Grain Free Free Chicken at the store today!
I fear this will be much ado about nothing, but I really want snow! I love the snow and I don’t care if summer vacation is pushed back, just bring on the white and cold stuff!!!!

I’m going to stop at the store after I drop my son off at school this morning to get some milk. That’s the extent of my preparations. If it happens, it happens. I’m not worried. I work from home, so inclement weather doesn’t affect me all that much.
It’ll stink if a bunch of school gets canceled and they have to make it up at the end of the year, but it won’t be as bad as two years ago.

My brothers live in Oregon (one in Portland and the other outside of Oregon city) and they posted pics. There was hardly any snow and the kids were not dressed like it was super cold. Seems like every time they post snow day pics there is either no snow or very little.

That’s how we do things here In all seriousness, we only got about 1/2” where I am but the roads were VERY icy because it got down to the mid-20s. School was two hours late here and the roads were mostly clear by then. Everything had melted by noon.

One of my SIL grew up in Iowa (now lives in Portland) and when they have a snow day, her pics usually involve going outside and asking “where is the snow?” My other sister in law was born in Oregon and hers usually show the kids out in full snow gear sledding on a dirt driveway with a very tiny dusting of snow lol. I do love that they have fun and enjoy it. We have a snow day again today but it is too cold to go outside. It snowed a bunch yesterday and is below zero today. The kids did get out to play yesterday, though. I hope that you guys all enjoy your snow! However much you get and however long it stays.

We have hills in the PNW, and about one snow plow per million people... on Tuesday school was canceled because the roads were icy and it didn't get above 32 until noon. We already have four make up days for the teacher strike in August, plus last weeks snow day, + whatever happens next week... Yay. I stocked up on library books and food yesterday

Most schools on Tuesday started with 2 hour delays which turned to closures.

DD sent photos from Salem showing a significant amount of snow in her yard on Tuesday. I worry about her on the roads, being a California kid. More snow on the way? Exciting for those who don't have to drive in it. ETA: Just looked at the weather app, and there is a snowflake symbol for every day but Sunday for the next 9 days! I hope your trip to Portland goes smoothly. Yikes! Attachments:

I don’t think there are ever enough snow days built in for years like this. My daughter’s district took them all away (all two of them), plus part of spring break/Christmas break due to the strike. We have already had 2 ‘snow days’ so I’m not planning summer break til late June at this point, assuming this storm does what they are predicting.

To be honest, I think the bulk of our “snow days” are really ”icy roads days”
I’m in Tigard. The only flat surface around here is the roof of the grocery store. Everything is uphill or downhill or sidehilling-around-a-corner-while-your-passenger-cries-“I’m too young to die!!” (Just me? Huh.....). 😇

I'm hoping for at least one snow day from work or at least no days where getting there is a heroic struggle. I live on a hill and work on a hill, so ice tends to be the problem. If the facilities staff is slipping and falling while they prep for the day, they let the non-essential staff stay home.
However, the fact that I'm prepared with food, books to read and projects to do might be a jinx.
This morning, I took a photo of the tv screen showing the predicted amounts of snow for my area using various models, from a trace to 4.6". I want to see which was most accurate for future reference. I hope the Canadian model is right!

I'm in Vancouver. I went and did my normal Friday morning grocery shopping and although it was a bit busier than usual I was done by 9:30 and headed home. My son and dil went to the same store around noon and it was rough with all the people. No shopping carts, shelves were starting to be cleared of staples and the lines were ridiculous. I'm hoping for a bit of snow this weekend and then we can get back to normal weather

I took my daughter shopping in Hillsboro this afternoon. CRAZY busy!! Bet this evening is worse. Sadly, down here in the valley all the latest predictions skip over us for getting much snow.

I went to the Tanasbourne Whole Foods this afternoon and it was fine. Then I realized I forgot something and ran into the Cornelius Pass Fred Meyer and it was INSANITY.
