Had one, didn't like it so I certainly have never missed not having one since.

Had one in my Camry, didn't in the Civic, had one in my Corolla S, and don't in my Sienna.
Honestly I find them to be expensive PITAs. And not worth the expense up front too.
I will continue to skip the sun/moon roof. I hardly ever had it open and again when the break, leak, ect super expensive to repair. Not worth it.
Never missed not having one.

I always have the shade open - I love the extra light inside the vehicle. I rarely open the roof, but it’s nice once in a while. But I’d still prefer to have a sun/moon roof for the extra light.

Had one in my SUV that I had for 15 years. Loved it. The light makes me happy. I had a convertible for a bit, and felt in the dark when the roof was up. When I bought this last car, it was a definite must have. They had to go two states over to get my car. Love the light, vent whenever I can, and open all the way as much as possible.

I haven't done it and don't think I could. I went from a regular-sized sun/moon roof to one that goes from the front all the way to the back. I LOVE it! I love the sunshine coming in even if I don't open it up for air (which I do a lot). Now, I would do it if I had to but definitely not my choice.

From time to time I have wanted to begin a thread here asking about sun/moon roofs --Does anyone really use them? We NEVER use the one we have. I like the idea of it, but when I open it, the noise is so off putting that it gets immediately closed. The climate here is too hot to let the sun shine in with just the "window" feature being used. This is the second (maybe 3rd) car that we have had with a sun roof. Not a feature we use. Our second car, an SUV, does not have one. It is not a feature we wanted. I have 3 cars and 2 of them have sunroofs. We have never used them. Not once. Ever.

I did but I wasn’t going up in price (large jump) for the feature. I miss it.

I think the answer is also going to depend on where you live. We have mild temps and never owned a car with a sunroof. We ended up buying a car with one this year and we love it! DH likes to pull the shade back, I like opening it to vent the car. Can't wait to take longer road trips this summer where we can drive with it open most of the way.

Honestly, when I read this I couldn't remember if my Escape has one or not (4 years old) so I had to run out and check. I never used it on the Honda and mostly forgot I had it. And apparently I forgot I didn't have it on my current car. So for me it wouldn't matter at all, whereas remote start and heated seats are non-negotiable.
In fact I remember now that when I bought my SUV I could choose between my preferred colour but no sunroof, or another colour with sunroof (same price) and I actually choose colour over a (free) sunroof. That's how much I don't care about the sunroof.
But you'll have to live in the car for the next x years so if having a sunroof brings a bit of happy to your morning commute then you should do it. I paid extra just to have keyless entry into the car. It felt like a silly indulgence but I have loved having it every day for the past 4 years.

I couldn’t. I love when the light comes in through the roof.

I have a sunroof, I totally forget I even HAVE it, and I don't use it a whole lot. You'll be fine unless you totally love love it.

Even when my car had a sunroof, I never used it because I always forgot it was even there.

Our last car had a sunroof, but honestly I always forgot it was there and never used it. I don't really miss it now.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that enjoys having the sunlight coming through even if the glass isn't opened. Technically, in Wisconsin there are a lot of days when you don't want to open for the air (brrr, like now) but I enjoy it 365 days per year just for the sunlight coming through. Rarely I will have to close shade at midday when the sun angle allows for glaring light to come down between my eyes and sunglasses. That only lasts a few minutes until the sun moves a bit or I turn. Then it's back to opening the shade and letting the sunshine in. DS has one, too and his shade is often closed. It's not when I use that car.

I am a very pale-skinned redhead - there is no way I'd be safe with a sunroof open! Plus, I have heard a lot of stories of people in cars that flip and are hit by other cars. I just want to be as safe as possible. I have never heard of anyone with a sunroof getting anything other than sun, but that stuff scares me.

I had one in my last car but I just bought a Crosstrek and it doesn't have one. I specifically asked for one with no sunroof or navigation. I've never used mine. I live in Texas and we really don't have that many days where we can use them.

I actually hate sunroofs but my particular model of car has one. I can't imagine why I would ever want one. Mine is tinted so it doesn't offer much light. I would never open it because I don't drive with windows open and I would be scared to death that it didn't close property and water could get in the car and ruin everything.
I actually once had a passenger ask if they could close the shade on it because it bothered them. That was kindof weird but it was fine with me because I don't care about the sunroof anyway.

My mom is a redhead, and I have hints of red with VERY pale skin, tons of freckles, and blue eyes. I burn and never tan. I have had 25+ pre-cancerous lesions too. Yep, icky but I still love my sunroof. I don't have it open all the way. I guess I mean the shade. I crack it if I want air but I LOVE the sun coming down in the car. I am outside for 2-3 hours a day and much more than I am in my car so then I make sure I wear a hat and sunscreen. I can go days without driving my car. My car is actually safer for me than my daily routine of being outside.

Before I had one, it was a must, but now that I have had one, I could totally do without. I’d much rather have a heated steering wheel than a sunroof!!

If you didn't have it open, I don't think you'll miss it. I had one and I had it open all the time, so I definitely was sad when my next car didn't have one. That and heated seats. I miss those, too
