UPDATE: Found it near the trash bags where he took it off to take out the trash. My DD found it. Everyone happy ....
DH takes off watch and ring to sleep and puts them on the night stand or bathroom counter. I checked the bed sheets and bed frame with long object (found a bunch of dust bunnies). The vent near this area is closed and I checked this vent/duct. We never found his first ring. Guess who is suggesting a cheapo replacement? HA! He claims he doesn't take it off much... hello... I never take mine off. Any suggestions for an incognito hiding spot?

Do you have carpet or wood floors? If wood floors, his ring could have rolled under another piece of furniture. Check there.

He gathered the trash yesterday from room to room.... so I'm wondering if it went astray then. Is this where all the socks are hiding?

Behind a post on the bedframe? Pull the bed away from the wall.

Do you have a cat? Or a dog? My corgi pup ate a diamond earring of mine. Spoiler. I am wearing it now. ^^^ if you have a cat, it could be under ANY piece of furniture... one of our cats carries around ring-shaped things (we have toys for her that look like the ring on a milk jug) and bats them around on the floor. If he likes to sleep without his ring-- which I totally understand, because I take off my engagement ring at night (I don't want to catch it on anything while I'm sleeping)-- then you should get some sort of a small box that has a LID or a COVER so he can put his watch and ring inside it to keep them safe. If he set it on the bathroom counter, is your wastebasket near the counter? could it have accidentally gotten knocked off the counter into the trash? Or could it have gone down the drain in the bathroom sink? ETA: yesterday morning my DH left his ring next to the sink when he washed his hands with an abrasive anti-grease hand cleaner (he didn't want the abrasive to hurt his ring)... he was lucky I found it, otherwise it might have ended up under some random piece of furniture and we may not have found it for a long time.

ensorings.com/collections/mens-silicone-ringsThe one that a cashier was wearing at REI and he took it off to show us was firm yet slightly flexible, definitely not thin like a baby nipple. I hear that many young people are choosing silicone rings over the traditional because of cost and the obvious safety reasons. I know my Dad could have used something like this when he was workign on ships in the military. Mechanics and many outdoor enthusiasts like them too.

Down the steering column in his vehicle. At least, that’s where DH lost his. Driving along resting his hand on the wheel and it fell off, straight down the hole where the wheel tilts. We couldn’t believe it.
To to find this one I think you’ll have to move all of the furniture in the vicinity. Also, my cats have knocked things into trash cans off of the countertop. Hopefully that is not the case!
DH wears a silicone ring right now due to all of his training and races, especially swimming in pools and lakes. It doesn’t fall off like his previous rings, and he can wear it in chlorine no worries. He only takes it off to wear his marching band when we go out. But if he were to and lose it, a replacement is only $12.

Is the watch missing as well or was it on the nightstand or counter? Could he have taken them off at another sink in the house to wash his hands? Did he take a shower before bed and perhaps it went down that drain (I hope not)?
I would look away from the bed. If the ring fell on the floor, it could have bounced or rolled to another location in the room. I've found things that fell inside my shoes in the closet so I'd check any shoes that were left out in the bedroom.
Do you have pets? When my dad lost his hearing aids, the people at his audiologist office kept asking if we had pets and said that dogs were bad to ingest hearing aids. (The hearing aids were found inside a tiny drawer in the kitchen that is almost never used but is near where my dad normally left them at night. I have no idea why he put them in that drawer.)
Check the laundry.

Check under the bed with a flashlight, it might just glint back. Saw this story yesterday about a chap who thought his FA cup medal had been stolen in a burglary only to find it after a few months later under the bed. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-47225929

They're very popular (with both genders) because they're not shiny, they don't clink, don't pinch in machinery, don't get caught in whatever, etc. And if you take it off and lose it, it's all good. Some PXs even sell them now.

Floor or drain.
I’d get him a small dish to put his items in to at night.
