Awhile ago, admin had asked us to reduce the number of direct attachments to our posts, as those seem to take up space on the forum whereas photos linked from some other host do not. As more people are joining in on our challenge board, there have been several questions about linking pic's, and with the Mega Crop coming up in March, I anticipate there will be more questions like this. I have been linking all photos from Flickr, usually adding it to the 2Peas Gallery first, and have been able to help a number of people to link photos of their scrappy projects that way. If anyone is struggling to link from Flickr, please tag or PM me and I can try to help you with that. Also, if you are a Flickr member, I would love to have you join our 2peas Gallery, and can help you with that if you tag or PM me. How do you link photos to your message board posts? If you use IG or fb or if you post from a blog or another site other than Flickr, could you please take a moment to explain the steps?
I know this has been done before, but as I say with new participants, or with long time Peas now wanting to participate in events or challenges, maybe we need another review. Also, if you have specific questions about posting your photos here, hopefully this will be the place we can get those questions answered. I promised to tag justlisa7 who was wondering if there was a quick way to link an Instagram post to a message post.

LOL! My IG link didn't work. If the image is on my computer but not in IG, it's a bit more complicated but it reduces the file size quite a bit. I open the photo in PSE and click File, Save for Web. Then click OK at the next screen. I make sure they file type is Images Only. I save it with "web" after the name then upload it here using the Reply (not Post Quick Reply) and the Add Attachments button.

link from IG
For the IG link, go to the IG post and look for the little box with the arrow pointing up and click that and scroll to Copy Link. Then open your post here and click the Link button (globe with page) and copy into the URL box. You can also click the address in your URL box and copy and paste it, but for whatever reason I like using the Copy Link function. I'm using my Windows 10 computer, so it may be different depending on your operating system and whether you are using a phone or tablet.

I have tried sharing with my account private and then even making it not a private account, and I can still only copy a link. I am wondering how can I post a picture from Instagram to here? Thank you for any help!

justlisa7 - Thank you. I don't know how to attach/embed a photo from IG. Only a link. Maybe someone else can chime in.

nope. Tried the image link, and that didn't work. Direct link: http://instagr.am/p/Btov4deDAaY That didn't work, either. ETA: But when I clicked on your URL just now, @justtricia7, it gave me a "broken link" message? I hadn't tried clicking on your link before playing with the address. I am sure the PEAS can figure this out!

testing IG linking because I saw in another thread the IG linking seemed to be broken http://instagr.am/p/Bt7BD2YDdhX Normally just pasting the IG link works to show the post but this weekend it seems to be broken grammadee So maybe not a good time to be trying to figure this out...?

I don’t think the embedding works anymore. I started a thread in the Admin forum but haven’t heard anything yet. You used to be able to just paste a link and it would embed.

That’s annoying about the embedding not working anymore. I wonder if it’s actually an issue with IG rather than the Forum?

For non Instagram photos I use tinypic.com. You don’t need to create an account or anything, just go there and hit upload a photo and navigate to the photo you want on your computer or device. It usually makes you watch a small ad or do a captcha while it uploads. Then it gives you a ton of links. I just click the icon here to insert an image (looks like a photo with a white border) and a box pops up asking for the image url. then I copy and paste the “direct link” from tinypic into that box and you’re done.
