I hate cleaning out kitchen floor. We have laminate flooring and it never looks clean. I’ve tried several different cleaning solutions and the floor always ends up looking streaky and dull. I know we have talked about this in the past but maybe there is something new that will work wonders. Any suggestions?

Don’t use citrus cleaners if you have ever had an ant problem.
I like the swifter wet jet solution. I stab a hole in the bottle so I can use it without sweeper.

This is what I currently have. I need more pads, though.

I was told to never use water or steam mops on my laminate. I dust mop and use Windex for a quick mop. Water can cause the laminate to buckle.

I just got vinyl planking- which I know is not the same as laminate... I use a damp mop and 1 c apple cider vinegar, a few drops of Dawn, and a gallon of warm water. No streaking and they're clean. Have you tried it?

Have you tried it? I believe I did try a similar concoction awhile back, but with white vinegar not ACV. But it might have been just vinegar and water for the floors and vinegar, dawn and water for bathrooms? I’ll have to try it again.

We have had the floors for 5 years and I mop with Bona every other day, unless needed. No warp, floors look just like the day we installed them.

I use the Enjo floor system. Brilliant, and no chemicals or smearing.

We had wood laminate flooring at our lake cabin for ten years and I used a microfiber spray mop with a water and vinegar mixture the whole time we had it without any issues at all. The flooring we had was specifically recommended by the flooring place that installed it because we knew it would constantly be wet from our big dogs and our kid coming in waterlogged from the lake. We never had any warping, buckling, etc. I think it really depends on the specific flooring you have. We had hardwood floors sealed with polyurethane at our last house and I used a Shark steam mop on those floors every week for probably 15 years without any problems either.

Working in a flooring store I highly suggest reading your warranty on your laminate, wood or luxury vinyl plank flooring before using a steam mop. Most warranties are void if using one.

I have the shark steam mop, but can someone explain how they use it? Do you let it sit on a tile for a few seconds, and then move to the next tile? It's not the same as a continuous motion as mopping back and forth correct?

On mine, the motion of pushing the handle forward is what makes the steam come out of the little sprayer in front.

We put dark laminate wood floors on our whole first floor almost 3 years ago. And I hate them. They show every speck of dust, every dog hair (we have two dogs), and I never feel like they are completely clean. The salesperson at the flooring store said to not use a steam mop or water. I have tried several different laminate cleaners, Bona and others, and yes, they are always streaky, which I hate. I have started using a dry mop with a micro fiber cloth to sort of of "buff" them after I clean, and that does help, but I hate that I have to do it. I really wish we would have gone with different flooring because they really never totally look clean and nice.
If I were doing them over again, I would either do real wood or the tile that looks like wood. In a lighter color.

I echo everything you've just said. I HATE the dark laminate wood floors that we have. A local scrapbook retreat house has light gray woodgrain tile flooring that looks amazing and I LOVE. Now I know for the next time.

I echo everything you've just said. I HATE the dark laminate wood floors that we have. After seeing how hard it was for my mom to keep her dark laminate floors clean (she's a much better housekeeper), we went for a rustic maple laminate. No way could we afford hardwood. We'd also never recoup the cost when we sale. I've had no issues with our steam mop. It was recommended by my husband's friend who has built two homes with laminate flooring and that is what they use. I just make sure to hang it from a hook in our laundry room when I'm done or set it on two or three plastic bags from the grocery store. It's when it sits directly in one place for a long time that there can be warping issues. My favorite thing about the mop is you don't have to put a lot of pressure to get the gunk off. You just have to swipe back and forth a few more times in the bad spots. Much easier on the back!
ETA: I love all the attachments on the mop as well! Great for wiping down walls and cleaning my small bathroom floors with little nooks.
