Does anyone have one? What are your thoughts?
I use a Garmin when I bike and absolutely love it. I like and love that they don't use up my data when tracking. I have been looking at their watches.

DH uses the 920XT (I think it is XT anyway) with the heart rate monitors for his triathlon training. Data from all three (swim, bike, run) is automatically uploaded to his training program and his coach can see his progress and adjust his training. And it helps after races to see how he did and where improvement is needed. He really likes it.

Yes. I currently use a vivofit 3, but I am thinking of upgrading to a smart watch. I'm working on my pilot's license, so I am thinking of one of the D2 watches.

Where have you purchased your watch? I tried REI and they seem to be limited there.
I did see some on Amazon but I read a review where the person had issues. The Amazon seller wouldn’t help them. So I’m going to stay away from there.

I love my Garmin. It's one of the basic ones, but that doesn't matter to me. I only want to count my steps. I was a couch potato before getting it. Since sliding it on my wrist, I have become a walk-warrior. On March 24 I will (if I make it) complete TWO YEARS of never missing 10K steps--not one single day! I'm very proud of that. My daily goal is 16K and more than 95% of the time I make that. But when we are driving long days on vacation, etc. etc. I allow myself to just do 10K. And I put it all down to my little Garmin watch!

We purchased his watch and all the accessories on Amazon with no problems. I’m sure other watches have similar accessories, but he has a bike sensor for sped and cadence. Not sure what kind of biking you do.
Oh, and I remembered one of his bands broke, after having it quite a while. We put it down to him never taking it off, not even for sleep, and all the chlorine and other chemicals it is often exposed to. Anyway, replacement bands are inexpensive and available in many colors.

The red bar that tells you when you have been inactive too long sort of prodded me. Then after I went a bunch of weeks without missing the 10K, pride took over. And I moved it on up to 16K (which is between 6-7 miles a day). I cannot TELL you what a difference it has made in my health. My doctor is simply amazed at what a difference just walking has done for me. Thanks for asking---I try not to pat myself on the back, but I admit to secretly being pretty proud. If you had any idea what a couch potato I was, you'd understand. I live in the country and I can walk on country roads and see a lot of wildlife. A few days ago a bald eagle flew past me. I see deer frequently.

I have owned several Garmin watches. I have a Vivoactive (3?) now and like that I can swim with it. The wrist based heart rate is not as accurate as a chest strap, if that’s important to you. My prior watch was a Forerunner (220?) and I used it for several years. It’s still fine, but I wanted different bells and whistles. I’ve never had a problem with quality.

Snowsilver- for some reason, what you are doing really sticks with me. 2 years is a long time, it’s a choice every single day.. and I really admire the commitment and self discipline!!

I piddle around in the water. I can swim I have just never been into doing laps. Hmmmm maybe that will change. I do have a chest strap from the bike unit I have. If I understand everything I’ve read and people I’ve spoken to the strap should work with a watch. It’s nice to read so many people use this watch.

Yes, Garmin makes a both a dry and waterproof heart rate monitor that send data to the watch.

I have a Garmin 235 and love it! I use it for running and now just wear it all the time. It’s easy to use and set up what you want to see while running. I’ve swam in the ocean with it and really just love it! I’ve had it for 2 years and haven’t had one problem.
Also, the Garmin connect app is easy to use and you can customize the watch face. For the holidays, I had a snowman and it was so cute!

I finally made the jump from my tried and true Fitbit flex that I had for years to the Vivoactive 3, and I love it. I can customize screens for each activity, and the heart rate, stress, and sleep tracking has been great.
Ordered directly through Garmin’s site (plus another watch strap). Shipping took awhile, but that’s just me being spoiled by Amazon Prime.
