I thought he looked great. Christian Siriano did a great job!

I think it’s ugly but hey, that’s just my opinion.

Love the one with the cape. Not so excited about the gown. I wouldn't have liked a woman in a gown with that much plain fabric on the skirt either.

I have no idea, or strong opinion, except that the dress was clearly meant to be for Diane Keaton to wear and she would have looked amazing in it. Diane Keaton would NEVER have worn that, though she SHOULD. She always dresses like Annie, or whatever the hell that character was.

I absolutely adore that tuxedo gown and I’m really kind of shocked I’ve never seen a similar look anywhere else. The jury’s still out for me on the other look. There may be a little too much going on. I have to think about it.

I file this under ‘wear what ever the hell you want to wear’ ( as long as stuff is covered )
I think it looks very well done and looks nice, if HE is happy with it then everyone should just shut up. Fashion wise it is done impeccably so there’s no need to say much if he is comfortable in it why should anyone else care?
The embroidered suit with cape is also fabulously done - sigh that embroidery is divine.

www.vogue.com/article/billy-porter-oscars-red-carpet-gown-christian-siriano?fbclid=IwAR09IxocU6bP1Ilsm8Sg0F0c3jpTc4UnFF9eFT6sppOzpQORGYAc6ujz4MEAt tonight’s 91st Academy Awards in Los Angeles, California, Pose star Billy Porter defied fashion norms by stepping out onto the red carpet in an unapologetically fabulous gown. The custom creation by designer Christian Siriano included a sharply tailored tuxedo jacket overtop a full-skirted strapless velvet gown. A play on masculinity and femininity, the look challenged the rigid Hollywood dress code and was boundary-pushing in all the right ways.
For the actor and singer, the fashion choice was deeply personal. Below, Porter reflects on coming to terms with his queer identity and how his fashion choices have became a powerful tool for self-expression and representation.

and this at the Golden Globe I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the flower work. I’m a HUGE fan of this. (I don’t care for the socks or shoe choice) Agreed. The suit and cape are stunning. I think burgundy suede stiletto ankle boots would finish it off. I think the dress could be more of a statement. I would like to see the sleeves with sharply tailored folded back white cuffs, tails from the jacket (I know it’s a tuxedo) and the skirt would look amazing in a pink and purple tartan. But that’s just my thoughts.

I do remember lots of negative comments when women started wearing pant suits/tuxedos to awards. His comments should have been that NOW people don't bat an eye, but they sure used to. Change takes time.
I found his outfit an interesting choice and hearing why he wore it makes a lot of sense. Guys usually are too traditional and he gets points for being bold.

He looked amazing and really carried it off. Love the suit and cape combo, except the embroidery. It looks too busy.

No, it won't "catch on" the majority of men will never want to wear anything like this...imagine trying to pee at a urinal with that on? But for the men who do want to wear it...I don't have any issue with it. They should wear whatever makes them feel/look good. I think he looks great and he obviously looks after himself very well and is well groomed etc. however most men aren't going to be able to wear it as well as he does. Actually I would think it would be easier for a man to pee. He just has to flip the skirt part up and over his shoulders. How the heck to do women pee with those skirts on? I guess they would have to do the same thing though it would be more arkward with the having to sit down and get back up stuff.

Perfection!
The cape ensemble would have been better with better fitting pants and gold shoes. I don’t like that really tight fitting look. It makes their heads look like pimples ready to be popped.

It's a beautiful dress. Too bad Amy Poehler and him didn't switch outfits.
