Just got a notification from our identity protection company that both my info and hubby's info was exposed on My Fitness Pal and sold on the dark web. I wondered why I have been getting horrific e-mails the past few days. The message basically says that they suffered a data exposure in Feb. 2018 but it was just reported in Feb. 2019. Just thought I would let other MFP users know.

Interesting. I didn't get that e-mail. Yep, definitely must have just been sold because now I am getting "yuck" in my e-mail. Not happy here!

Just curious, what personal info is in MFP other than your eating habits? I haven’t used it in a couple of years. I need to go check. ETA - Has anyone ever clicked on the link to check if the dark web has your email address? Just wondering if it is safe.

You'll get loads of porn type spam which can be irritating if you signed up with your real email that you use all the time.

Gmail is pretty good about filtering those out and I don’t even see them unless I go into my spam folder. But if can be irritating.

I just looked through my Gmail spam and in disappointed to say there were only two invitations for Adult Sex Party. The rest were the usual spam suspects. Lyft seems really eager to have me as a driver.

Because my real name confuses people into thinking I'm a boy, my invites are always from girls. Lots and lots of girls want me.

They also got usernames and passwords which they sell and can be used to break into other sites you login to. I am changing all of my passwords just in case.

I swear hackers are just awful pieces of shit.
I just got a new bankcard in Late December and my new card has already been breached—don’t know by who.

They can break into your medical records and change your blood type or erase your allergies. Now think of it on a larger scale , a military hospital, changing the blood type of all the service men/women. Your travel plans: You travel to Paris, and come home. Hacker sets you up, a clandestine meeting with a know spy, now they blackmail you. They can track where you are.

Besides, any time you need blood a type and cross will be done first no matter what you say or your medical records say. That is standard protocol everywhere because transfusion reactions are a big deal. No one takes anyone's word for it or looks up a blood type in old records. I like where your mind went with the clandestine Paris trip, but looking up everyone's travel records in the hopes of finding someone to blackmail would be a little tedious, don't you think? They really only want the email with the password in hopes of breaking into other sites where you used the same email/pw combo.
