My students loved it, even though it is an old book.

My parents had a library in their home for their grandkids. They had this book.

I have been a preschool teacher for 35 years and I read it to my students every year!

Yep, in my classroom library and my personal one as well. I love this book. I had no idea it was the oldest one still in print though. That is cool.

My best friend used to teach kindergarten and would read this to her students without telling them the title. Then she'd ask what they would title the book if they were the author. My favorite was a little boy who raised his hand and said it should be called "all them damn kitties".

I just saw this posted by our local bookstore’s Facebook page. I don’t know that I’ve read it, but familiar with it.

Just last week, I had a reading celebration week in my media center and I had all the teachers send me the title of the book they loved best when they were kids. I posted their favorite books around the library with the teacher's pictures and the kids loved it. Millions of Cats was my favorite!

Oh yes, I had this one when I was a kid. Although....I'm not sure I remember reading it to my own kids. I'll have to ask them if they remember it.

Maybe it’s the curse of the precocious reader but I seem to have skipped over a lot of childhood classics. It feels like I went from Dr. Seuss beginner books to adult novels with nothing in between.
I have never heard of this book.

Yes, I am pretty sure it is still on the shelf on my library! And I read it back in the 70's with our school librarian.
I must get it out and make a classic display- I know we still have Ping and I am looking for an original version of Ferdinand the bull.

I never liked that book. But I did read it. The author is from southern Minnesota, so I am guessing most of the Minnesota peas will remember it.

I have never heard of this book. I don't ever remember reading this one as a kid, either. I think I've heard of it as an adult, though. (and thank you, librarylady, for posting the link to it-- that website is going to cost me a lot of time, and I think I'll be adding quite a few books to my want-to-read list, as a result!)

I'm pretty sure my elementary school library had this book. It seems familiar, but not one of my favorites, as I was more into horses and snakes.

Wanda Gag is a distant relative of mine apparently. There is a nice Wanda Gag house museum in New Ulm, MN.

Loved as a child in the 70s and my grandson who is 4 loves now. Just bought an extra copy for his house as he was telling his Mama about the book with “hundreds and thousands and millions and billions of ants.” He meant cats but we had used the rhythmic words about ants once that we saw in real life so he got excited and confused lol. Now he likes his new copy with a “golden metal” on the front !

I have the book somewhere at my parents’ house! I read it as a kid.
I remember reading reviews on it last year and people complained that the cats were actually cannibalizing each other and they didn’t realize how “horrific” the plot line was.
