Didn't go the way she thought it would (Nextdoor.com drama)

We have a lady who leaves her dog shit everywhere. She got on Nextdoor the other day and suggested there was a lot of trash laying around and maybe we should have a cleanup day. Someone suggested she should start with her dogshit and the ensuing drama was a thing.

I didn’t do too good with that trying to be less bitchy inside at that moment.

We lived near a lady who, if your dog pooped in her yard and You didn’t clean it up, would get out her shovel, scoop it up, walk to your home, knock on your door, and tell you that you left something behind and dump it on your porch!!


One other neighbor was known for letting her dog just run out unsupervised and she was the recipient of many a shovel visits!!

Nextdoor is pretty quiet and the Facebook page is nothing but complaints about parking or freaking out because someone knocked on their door and debating calling police over it or not, with accompanying camera footage. LOLOL what a bunch of scared suburbanites.

Ha! Scared suburbanites for sure. My town had a debate over whether it was legal to shoot people who knocked on your door if you felt "threatened" by it.

my ND is crazy. people are not subtle. they will post pics of license plates if there are any doubts about who they are talking about.

Unless there was some kind of back story (which it’s possible there might be) I’d be siding with the OP person, no matter if it was directed specifically at someone or not. 😅 I’m militant about picking up my dogs poop. And I hate it when other people are wishy washy about picking up theirs. It’s disrespectful.

My ND is mostly tame. There's one guy who always is ragging on people who post about loud noises (fireworks, gunshots, etc) saying to stop bothering the cops. He did this yet again recently on a post my friend at the other end of my street wrote about gunshots (which she captured on her Ring). I commented that SOME of us DO know the difference between a backfire and a gunshot, and given his theme in commenting it sounds like he didn't want the cops around making us feel safer and trying to prevent criminal activity (yeah pretty thinly veiled calling him out as maybe one of the ones the cops might be interested in). My friend also replied saying the cops said they were definitely gunshots that were recorded. He hasn't posted any more derogatory comments since.

We have a few who will always chide us for not helping the homeless camping under the overpass and begging at the freeway frontage road intersections, calling us heartless and saying these people (who get shooed out regularly by the cops enforcing the signage that they're camping under) don't have any other way to survive. I've given the names and numbers of local places that they can give these people to receive assistance, but it falls on deaf ears. I've also pointed out that if they refuse the free assistance, there's a reason - because they refuse to abide by the rules of the place taking them in (most of the rules are fairly simple, too: PLEASE make use of our free shower, no drugs, no booze, no smoking inside, attend our service if it's a religious-based shelter, check in by X:00 for the night, etc). I'm not heartless, but I'm also not going to go out of my way for someone who resists legitimate help. Been burned enough on that.

I have been blamed for leaving dog poop in front of my building. But it’s not me. I pick up my dogs poop. Everytime. But I’m the only one in my building with a dog so everyone assumes it is me. I’m pretty sure it’s one of the 2 ladies in the building that shares my buildings driveway, just not sure which one.

Trust me, if I knew who’s dog it was I have zero issue leaving the pile in front of thier garage. I’d even leave a bitchy sign in thier garage with no guilt. Especially since I’m enduring all this side eye over it. BUT I’m not sure. So I can’t.

I just have to go on making a huge show of picking up my dogs poop every morning & night hoping my neighbors eventually realize it isn’t me. 🤞🏻

But I’m going to go ballistic if the building manager harassed me over it like he did with the lights I was not leaving on. THAT will be drama I’ll tell you.

The latest one on my nextdoor is speeding and how crappy our police is.

I am on mine. A neighbor a few houses down keeps complaining about kids throwing rocks, people stealing a single headlight, and has joined the speeding shaming. I do not post.

If you ignore the crazies, NextDoor can be a wealth of information, especially if you're new to the area.

I read something a while back that essentially said that Nextdoor is "Twitter for old people." I thought it was pretty funny (FTR I'm no spring chicken). Some girlfriends and I were discussing our own neighborhoods' Nextdoor craziness with each other a few evenings ago. We all had some good laughs!

Ours is probably 80% okay but every now and then..

The one that gets me is "be aware, there is a white car driving down the street slowly and looking around." Well, imagine that. A car driving down a street. I better get the binoculars out.

The one that pushed everyone over the edge was the moron who posted about a man walking down the street with a scarf over his face and pushing a stroller that was covered with a blanket so no one could see what was inside. It was cold out, lots of families in the area, it was a nothing thing, but she CALLED THE POLICE. Absolutely outrageous.

There are whackos everywhere for sure, it's just sad that forums like that give them a place to show off the crazy/neurotic/batshit side.

(Speaking of neighbors.. JustPeachy and I used to be almost-neighbors way back a long time ago, when all our kids were small.  Hi R!)
