We fast forward through all the stupid judge stuff and back stories so we can watch a 2 hour episode in about 15 minutes. First of all, the judges. Oy. Lionel Ritchie is so wordy. He uses a dozen words when one will do. Katy Perry is an attention wh*re. She is so annoying and the way she fawns over the good looking men (and some boys) is disgusting. If a man did that they would be in big trouble. I can't believe she got up and did all that dancing during that one poor guy's audition. It was embarrassing. Luke Bryan is the only one I can stomach and I love seeing his funny expressions when some of the contestants sing. All 3 are so inconsistent-they'll send a so-so singer to hollywood and someone who is better is "not ready" or "just not right" or whatever. So why do I even watch? LOL. If they had a golden buzzer, this girl should have gotten it.

I'm kind of sort of watching. I FF through backstories, too. It's mindless entertainment...

we caught the last hour the other night - it literally was one sad story after another. Have zero inclination to watch again - and totally agree about the judges. I kept focusing on Katy's eye makeup and didn't hear anything valuable out of her. There have to be judges who are honest and tell them "no seriously, you can't carry a tune" rather than 3 "oh please like me" judges.
Such a huge difference from watching the Voice auditions. Funny thing is that we lose interest after the audition phase with that too - we have yet to see a finale!

I swear her eyes looked like she used highlighter pen on them in some scenes. her clothing/makeup changes from one contestant to another so it's obvious they do a lot of editing and mixing but one thing is consistent-she always overdoes it.

I watch with DVR on fast forward! The story line are just too long, I would like to see more contestants. I like Lionel and Luke much better than Katy, but I still watch. Hollywood is my favorite time. Everything about Katy is distracting.

I'm watching but definitely DVR it to fast forward through all the needless crap. There is a local kid on that I want to love, but don't yet after his audition. I do hear he makes it into the top 10. So far I really like Alejandro (don't think they ever said his last name). His voice is a bit unique and I love his guitar playing. The judges have put through some very bad singers so far. They'll quickly be gone though as there are some very spectacular auditions so far.

We watched the other day and its one sob story after another. Some that dont deserve to get through are getting through because of their story,

Katy's clothing changes are due to editing from each city to the next. I would be just as happy if they did it by city as they did last season, at least I think it was last season. This year I don't even know what cities they were in. We DVR AI and The Voice, fast forwarding through some parts. My daughter likes all the back stories - good thing I never just sit and watch and am more a listener as I crochet or do other menial tasks.

I don’t follow AI and did not realize he was even auditioning until he made it through. Do you know when his Hollywood episode airs?

He didn't make it past Hollywood Week. I think that AI should show snippets of everyone that makes it to Hollywood Week. They used to, but now all you see of the ones cut are those that had the biggest tears.

What I find amusing is how much improved they sing from try-outs to the first round of eliminations.

Anyone still watching? Last night they got down to the Top 20. It was a THREE HOUR SHOW. SOOOO many commercials!

We watched and fast forwarded through the commercials.

We always fast forward through the commercials, the back stories, and the judges' antics. We can usually watch a 2 hour episode in 30-45 minutes so this 3 hour one shouldn't take more than an hour and a half.

I am watching, I have three favorites from the top 20. There are some that I felt shouldn't have made it.
I am still bummed about last season. I like Layla Spring and wish she would have been given the chance. I follow her instagram and hope she will move forward and stay in music industry.

I have to say, I think the judges did an excellent job this year of choosing the talent for the Top 20!!

One I don't understand is Alejandro. He's a great crooner but only seems to sing soft. They usually like the ones that can hit the big notes.

Did anyone watch last night? When do we get to vote? After the top 14? I mostly agreed with their choices. The blond girl's voice was just weak in comparison to her duet partner (Pat Benatar still sounds amazing after all these years!) and the other guy messed up, although it wasn't really his fault. But I guess they have to be able to deal with last minute changes. I thought Bumbly did amazing though. I'm just glad Madison and Riley, my two current favorites, made it through.
Loved seeing Jason Mraz last night and I'm looking forward to seeing Chris Isaak tonight.

I watched. I had no idea, who some the celebrity guests were. Elle King? Brett Young?
My Favorite is Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, can't wait to see him perform tonight.
I read in a daily news brief this morning, that Ryan is sick and Bobby Bones is guest hosting.

I've heard of Elle King (she's actually Rob Schneider's daughter- I've heard the exes and ohs song a few times) but I've never heard of Brett Young or Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon.

I was picturing John Schneider (of Duke's of Hazzard), not Rob Schneider. I could see John, but I don't think she looks like Rob at all.

Have to say that I think Elle King screwed up the duet with Shawn and it ended up costing him. Also, no way should Eddie Island of gone through over Ryan Hammond!!!

I haven't watched the 2nd one yet but I saw the list. I'm not surprised Alejandro made it through. I don't get it at all but the judges seem to be completely smitten with him. Evelyn Cormier pronounces some words strangely when she sings. I haven't been a fan from the start. Wicked Game is one of my all time favorite songs and I feel like she butchered it not once, but twice now.
