This is our first time going as a family to an amusement park. I am more worried about DH than my kids, twins 9-yo. Any suggestions for survival? _HA! TIA........I know there were threads about Legoland, but the search engine gives few matches.

Have the kids bring a couple of minifigs. The employees carry them around and will trade with your kids. They had some really cool ones.

As with amusement parks in general, get there before it opens in the morning. You'll probably ride wait-free for a couple of hours.
You didn't say which location you're going to, but that was our experience in FL.
We started from the back of the park and that shortened lines too since most people were still in the front.
Also, if there are outdoor rides you're interested in, be sure to do them early. Storms came through in the afternoon and we weren't able to ride a couple before they closed.

At that age they should be good to go on any rides. If you have younger children it can be tricky because of the requirements for an adult to ride with kids of a certain age/height and 2 seater rides. A friend went with her and her 3 kids including a baby and they. Couldn't do a lot of rides.
When are you going? It will be beautiful this weekend!

The aquarium is ok. If anything it was a nice cool place to escape the heat when we went but nothing to pay extra for.

Rented vrbo in Carlsbad, a block from the beach, for the week. Will hit some tide pools, see the sea lions, take the coaster to San Diego...can't wait.

Which one are you going to be visiting? San Diego, CA If you are staying at the hotel, choose the original hotel. We stayed in the brand new Castle Hotel last year and we all had more fun in the original hotel. For the kids, the dance party and elevators were better. For the family, the breakfast buffet was better managed. Also, if you stay at the hotel and visit the waterpark, you will have to check towels out from the pool and take them to the waterpark. My son much prefers the waterpark to the regular park, but that could be because we always go when it is a million degrees out. Take minifigures for trading. Employees and many kiosks and stores in both parks have minifigures to trade. The aquarium is okay, but there are better options in the SD area if you are interested in seeing sea life.

We actually had a winter this year and have missed the warmth!

When we were there the line to get into the water park was looooooooong so if you are doing that, get there early! We only did the non water park side though.

We went when the kids were around that age, they could ride everything on their own. We went on a weekday and it wasn't very crowded, the kids were old enough to feel a little freedom, while we still had oversight. It was very relaxing.
We skipped the waterpark because we have good ones at home and spent time checking out area beaches, SD Zoo, etc. Have fun!
