I wonder if the child will grow up to play the instrument.

That is really sweet. Music is powerful. People in power (churches, governments, etc) have long realized the inherent power of music. Which is why so many tried to control it for so long, labeling some classical music, jazz, rock and roll, hip hop etc as "devil music", "jungle music", etc. Thankfully, those days are mostly over, at least in a lot of the world. "More than a century ago, Jelly Roll Morton was thrown out of the house by his grandmother for playing “the Devil’s music”. But Jazz was by no means the last form of popular music to be labelled as being in league with Satan – a charge that was later levelled at blues, rock’n’roll, heavy metal and hip-hop, and at artists as diverse as Eagles and The Rolling Stones.... Even with big-band music in concert halls, there were anxieties. Saxophones were viewed with suspicion (the “scandalous” instrument had been banned by Pope Pius X in 1903) and when they were used to belt out jazz that aroused lewd dancing, it provoked alarm and moral outrage. The Devil knew how to tempt, after all, whether with an apple or a sexy rhythm. For a time in the 20s, jazz was banned in hundreds of public dance halls. It wasn’t just syncopated rhythms that caused trouble. No one knows for sure which 18th-century cleric said that “the Devil has the best tunes” (some of which you will find in our playlist) but long before Jelly Roll Morton had recorded a Devil-related song called ‘Boogaboo’, classical music had aroused consternation over “dance macabres” and immoral symphonies." www.udiscovermusic.com/in-depth-features/the-devil-has-all-the-best-tunes/"Be cause music can be perceived by the brain (thalamus) and enjoyed without being evaluated for moral content, it is easy to see how Satan can gain access to the mind. In this way he is able to blunt the spiritual perceptions as well as create or encourage certain emotional states." www.ministrymagazine.org/archive/1974/01/music-how-it-affects-the-whole-man

Beautiful. Years ago when DS was about 7 we went to Branson and saw a Cirque type show. We were there in the off season so the theater was about 1/4 full, literally everyone was in the center front section. We were in the back because I thought DS would be wiggly. The lead singer was amazing and the music was just haunting. She walked down the aisle by us and she caught DS eye. She sang directly to him for about 2 minutes. I don't think he blinked, I know he did not move a muscle. It was amazing to see the power music had to bring so much joy to him. I could also see the reaction the singer had, and I know it meant something to her to connect to someone younger. I will always remember that moment.
