Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only one who manages to pull a back muscle while tightening screws. Keep that heating pad on there!

I think you're supposed to start with ice on a muscle strain or pull. Heat will increase swelling. When you're feeling better you can alternate between the two.

An anti-inflammatory like Advil might really help.

An anti-inflammatory like Advil might really help. If you take one, it'll have to be at the prescription dosage to get the anti-inflammatory effect. The OTC dosage helps with pain. Always with food, preferably with an antacid especially if using the higher dosage. Heat on rising, ice throughout the day. Don't stay completely immobile, short walks, alternate standing/sitting, etc. *not a doctor

Not a doc but deal with this a lot. If near the spine, a muscle may have spasmed to save your disc, for lack of a better way to put it. It’s a way your body protects your spine. I can unlock those by lying on my back with my legs bent over a body pillow and sticking a knuckle under my back on the tight muscle until it releases. Golf balls work, as well.

Well, just to help you feel less ridiculous, I pulled mine yesterday (not too badly, thankfully) trying not to sit on my cat who had jumped onto my bed as I was about to sit down.

ICE ICE ICE and ibro. Never heat. Heat feels good at the time, but increases circulation to the area. IE, swelling, inflammation. Get up and walk every hour during the day. Normal to be sore tomorrow. just keep icing, and ibro
