Last month I whined here during the crop about struggling with a layout and then finally finishing it and feeling OK about it. It's a two page Disney layout that includes a picture of DD holding a giant bunch of Mickey balloons at DTD. I finished it and moved on but a few days ago I bought a MME Hooray paper pad. There is balloon paper, ladies. The perfect balloon paper. I asked my other DD if I should redo it. She just gave me this look I guess that was a no. Usually I'd just move on but I really love my Disney layouts and revert back to the perfectionism that I've tried to let go of with my scrapping when I don't totally love the outcome. Would you consider redoing it or are you with my DD and Amy Poehler on this?

... Would you consider redoing it or are you with my DD and Amy Poehler on this? Oh, I know there will be a bunch of re-dos in my future. I just want to get a few other projects done before I start down that road. At least the photos are in the books. So, not a priority, but ... yeah, they're toast.

I scrap to make ME happy. So, if a layout exists that carries regrets for whatever reason, I would probably plan to re-do it.
Whether I can get around to it is another can of worms!

msliz, I've redone some layouts and am so happy with them now. Before I'd look through an album and focus more on either laughing at old layouts or hating them than the pictures. I'm glad I took the time to redo them. A few months back I added redos here and there on my scrappy to do list and it worked well for me. I've just never redone a recently scrapped layout. I can see myself looking through this album when it's done and not liking that particular layout. Specifically, there is one paper on the layout that I don't like. I wonder if I could replace that paper without destroying the whole layout. I'll have to take a look and see if it's possible.

Yes! Or the perfect embellies! My scrapping has slowed way down because when I’ve been doing page kits I pull all possibilities I really love having options but do admit it can be overwhelming. I’m not sure when I started becoming a perfectionist

Elsabelle, if I were going to plan my scrapping around "the look" I get when I bring up my plans, I would probably not have a lot done. If it makes you happy to redo the LO, then DO it! I am all about the easy, though. Were you thinking of using the new MME pp as a background? Can you cut around the rest of it with an Xacto knife and plop it onto a new background? Or were you thinking about replacing some of the middle layers? Is time an issue? I might tuck that new PERFECT pp behind the original LO in the album, and then some day when you are looking for something crafty to do, you could take that page out and play.

I think it’s its possible to remove everything from the offending paper 😁 and slip in the new balloon paper and then just redo the embellishments. I will have to take closer look later. That would certainly make it easier than redoing the entire two page layout.

I've definitely redone layouts (or reworked them to get rid of something that later bugged me, or added more embellishments, or whatever), including more recent ones. I think if it will make you happy, I would remake it the way you would like it! Then I would see if you can deconstruct some elements from the original layout and make it into something you like better, or a less memorable Disney moment that you still want scrapped. I think you can get 2 layouts out of this project, and from what you say, I think you will be glad you did.

I have redone dozens of layouts for a variety of reasons, and I’m not talking just moving a couple of things around. I’ve literally tossed many in the trash and started over. So this would definitely be an easy decision... redo it. And as a side note, I have never had to redo a page that I’ve redone so it’s always been a good decision.

That really does sound perfect. I'm far from a perfectionist with my pages. Usually I'm like, yeah it's okay. Move on. If I came across something like that, I'd probably redo the page in 5-10 years. I'm a slow scrapper.

I have redone when I find the perfect paper many times. Absolutely. Not even a question for me.

Redo it. The PERFECT paper rarely rears its perfect head.

ETA: if at all possible I’ll usually reprint the photo and scrap with the new and improved supplies. I’ve scrapped the same photo many times in the name of better stuff!

I’d redo it. I’m trying very hard to not keep track of the number of pages I’ve redone...

I don't think this is about perfectionism because you got the LO done without getting bogged down waiting for the perfect paper to appear. But now that it has, if you can make it work and you have the time I think you should do it. This way when you look at the pages you won't be thinking about whether you should've redone it or how much better the other paper was - you can enjoy the memory. Think about it as realizing the page needed one more finishing touch if the idea of "re-doing" makes you uncomfortable. It just needs this one one little.... RIP!! reglue reglue reglue...! lol.

If this paper really is THE paper, and you're not thrilled with the existing layout, go for it! You say you really get into your Disney layouts, those clearly hold a special connection for you (who doesn't want to relive the fun of a Disney trip!!)
I have redone one layout, ever. It was the ope ing page in my honeymoon album (first album, first page ever). I had used papers that really looked horrendous all together. I went back while still working on the album and redid that page. Don't get me wrong, it is still a beginner page done in 2006 supplies, but I don't cringe when I look at it anymore.
I am considering redoing the title on a page in another album, a few years after I did the album, I found and purchased a bottlecap alpha stamp set, and it would be PERFECT for this layout.
No judgement in this hobby, if that balloon paper is going to make your heart flutter when you look in that album, then it will be time well spent!!

I’m on team ElsabelleI’d totally re-do the page if it didn’t look right to me and I had the perfect paper to make it right.

Another vote for redoing. I'd much rather be happy when I flip through my albums than spend my time regretting that awesome paper I didn't end up using.

Not re do, as in tear apart first layout to assemble second, but I would do it again!
I'd reprint the pic and do it on the perfect paper.
If you feel it needs to go in the album in a certain place, you can put it in front of the first layout, in the same protector.

Go for it. Paper is usually $1/sheet, so if you ruin the original paper, you've only lost a dollar.

Re-do it! It will make you happier. Sometimes that’s as important as the just having it done.

I’m in the middle of fixing the layout. I removed the paper I didn’t like and as soon as I put down the balloon paper I loved it! Thanks for encouraging me to redo it. I’ll be so much happier with it now.
