I mailed my state and federal tax forms last night. I’m getting a refund from both. This morning I found another 1099INT FOR $47.25. Figures!
I know I can file an amended return but for an additional $47 in income, will the IRS & state of California just adjust my refund amount? What say the peas?

Most likely they will send you a notice at a later date noting the difference and a small balance due. It will take some time for the IRS to match 1099’s to taxpayers so I would be surprised if it’s determined before your refund is processed.

The original will still stand and the amendment will require a check. We have the same issue, only our left out W2 was for much more. We were so excitd that we were going to get a refund. Well we will, but will have to send in a check for almost all of the refund amount with the amended return. Its going out in the mail Monday. If I were you, I would get your amendment in the mail on time too so as to not have interesst due on the amount owed on the missing W2.

I don’t know about CA but I work for a state tax agency in a different state and we don’t adjust taxpayers forms or refunds. Instead, we send them a letter stating they didn’t claim all of their income and will give the details. Generally, the letter also states how much you owe back and includes penalties and interest. While your 1099 is very small, I would go ahead and file an amended return and pay the difference (if any).

I would file the amended form.
DO NOT FILE IT UNTIL AFTER YOUR RETURN IS PROCESSED! Yes I meant all caps. There was an error on a W2 one year and I got a corrected one shortly after I filed and I immediately submitted the amendment. It held up processing my original return (and my refund) until almost September.

Thanks for the responses. I’ll amend after mine is processed.
