Those were my favorite socks. Okay so they're very '80's. But I liked the way they looked (especially scrunched up with sneakers!) and kept my legs warm. I have never found any other kind of socks that don't annoy me - too tight, too short, too long, too thin, whatever.
ETA - and with that, I am a "Mush Pea!"

I buy mens dress socks and scrunch them. I have a few pair. I wear them out pretty fast. I found mine at Costco. They are just heavy enough to be warm but not too heavy. I can wear them over my leggings with what ever shoes I want. I do like short socks when I wear my tennis shoes with shorts. I scrunch them down too. If there are longer than ankle socks.

Paired with high top Reeboks with the velcro strap on the top? Adorable! And don't even get me started on wearing two pair at a time...layered in different colors, of course!

Have you looked into hiking or outdoor socks? They are generally longer and can be pretty warm.

I've started wearing my DH's old socks, the ones that are all stretched out. Men's socks are nice and thick and warm. And big and slouchy.

Loved the slouch sock look. I had dozens of different colored pairs. That's the point when my Mom stopped matching socks and would just leave them in the clean laundry basket in our room for us to grab each morning. I had two sisters and I can't even imagine how many pairs we wore each week.

I have one lonely pair of slouch socks leftover from the early 90's. I think the only reason I even have them was because they were packed away for so long in storage. Anyway, they are my weekend socks when I don't have to leave the house. They are too thick for most of my shoes now.

I bet slouch socks weigh more than some tennis shoes nowadays!

Oh how I loved reading this post!! I have been actively thinking about my slouch socks for the past two years. I never really thought to do an internet search. Since a fellow pea found them on the internet...I'm gonna be that 80s girl now! I WILL wear them. I'm still all about the big hair! Doh! Best part, my husband is an 80s guy too....so he finds my 80s throwback attractive...that's all I need. :-) I'm so guilty of the reebok sneaks with two velcro tabs and pegged jeans. Also polo popped collars (also layered) and rainbow sweaters and leg warms. still love love love my 80s. Don't even get me started on acid washed jeans that split in my knees every time I bent down.

These are not my feet... ...but they could have been, circa 1987 I was more impressed with the white tennis shoes. It's hard to find anything these days that doesn't glow in the dark.

I loved the white ones, because they really enhanced my summer tan. I was HAWT, as my daughter and her friends say.

Oh I would love some I. I have fat ankles and so many socks today are just too tight. For warm socks I plan to buy some wool socks this year - I have cold feet at night in winter even in So Cal. I bought a pair last year and loved them and plan to buy a few more pairs this year. I am getting mine from Bass Pro Shops - they aren't pretty but they are warm.

Oh, I thought I was the only one! I loved mine! I kept my pairs for years until the last pair finally died out. I kept them well into the late 90s! Mine were by Bonnie Doon and they were made of the most marvelous 100% cotton, and they were slouchier than most, and not has high up the leg. Mine came just past the ankle bone and they were the softest, warmest, coziest socks ever. I wore them around the house with no slippers, I darned them the few times they wore a hole. I had some serious love for those socks, lol. I've looked since to replace them, but I think unfortunately Bonnie Doon sock brand is no more, and none of the others (including the pic above) fill the bill. I'd love to find them again, and if I ever were to, I'd buy enough to take me to the grave.
