This is the first weekend it's really felt like fall here as it's still been so hot. I was in Miami last week for work, which was even hotter. I came home to really cold temps, and it put me in the fall mood.
Yesterday, I bought some pumpkins for my porch. Today, I made two batches of soup, some homemade bread, and a crap ton of vegetable stock to freeze. I also started decorating for fall, but I didn't get very far.
What fallish things did you do?

I put a wreath on the door and reminded DH that there were some leaves in the backyard and patio that needed to be blown with the leaf blower and picked up. That is about it for now. Not really in any rush to accept that Fall is here.

Made soup, watched the Ravens lose and the Orioles win, YEA!!!!! I also put away most of my summer clothes and have been steam pressing all my winter sweaters. Watch, we'll have a heat wave this week.

Turned the heat on, took the kids to the apple orchard, made a big batch of applesauce and a pot of chili. Should have been wearing mitts at the orchard, it was that cold!!

I have NOT turned the heat on yet. I refuse, even though it is cold enough to. LOL

Changed the furnace filter. Turned the heat on. Dumped (most of) the summer planters. Changed the bathroom "show" towels to the fall/winter towels.

We had our pet blessed, and we're going to the State fair tomorrow. Those are both "October" activities around here.

I RSVPd to a pumpkin carving party on the 18th. I also thought about what event I could possibly make and take pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting to. I adore them, but there is no way I can keep them here. I will eat every one of them. Finally decided I would bring them to a crop on the 11th and leave them at the host's house. That seems like the safest way to handle pumpkin bars

I need to do that, too! Unfortunately, my planters were still looking pretty good. Until I went to Miami last Sunday, and no one watered them while I was gone and it was hot. I don't expect much from my family when I have to travel, but I do expect them to keep my plants alive. They failed.

We traveled the back roads through the PA mountains to a fall festival.
The beautiful colors on the trees along the way were just as enjoyable as the event itself.

I pulled out my Halloween decor, washed the blankets for the beds, went to the fair. DH cleaned up the boat and got it ready for winter storage since we wont be taking it for a while.
It's in the dang 90's this weekend...doesn't feel like fall at all.

We went to a fall festival at Pioneer Evergreen Farm. The kids had a lot of fun. This is the second year we went it's our new fall tradition. My only problem with their festival is that they have a "hayride" but the ride is in a wagon with benches and has no hay. How is that a hayride? It's just a scenic fall ride. I don't really miss the hay it's just that they advertise it as a hayride and there is no hay.

Went to the apple orchard. Baked an apple crisp and some applesauce. Took the dog for a long walk in the woods, the colors are gorgeous in Wisconsin.

Went to Greenspot Farms (our favorite local pumpkin patch) and went to Oak Glen for our yearly picnic at the Old Schoolhouse. Oak Glen is an apple farming town.
Eta: made and ate gluten free, dairy free chocolate chip pumpkin spice muffins. Mmmm. WAY better than the gluten counterpart.
