I just tried to upload a photo of the bird feeder. I got a message "This forum has exceeded the space for photos" and the photo could not be added. Time for everyone to delete old photos or excessive number of photos. I guess we have had too many graduations and weddings. [ADMIN EDIT from this point onwards: Quoting my posts from further down the thread so all the relevant info is in the OP]
I'll pin this thread for reference for a little while. To be clear, the following DO NOT affect our attachment storage: Photos added via Tapatalk Photos linked from the gallery Photos linked from other hosts eg Photobucket, imgur, Flickr etc Photos in quoted posts To delete attachments, you will need to be viewing the forum in desktop mode. It would be easier to do this on a tablet or laptop/desktop, on a phone it will be fiddly. If you are in mobile view, scroll to the very bottom of the page and at the right hand edge you should see a "Desktop" link. Once you're in desktop mode, the best way to find your attachments is to use the full search from the menu at top of the page (between the Gallery and Members links). In the "with all the words" box under "What to search" enter "attachment" In the "by at least one of the members" box under "Who to search" enter your own username (not display name). It should show bring up your miniprofile (name, avatar, rank) to select. Choose yourself! Under "How to search", select "Display result as posts" There is a limit to the number of search results it will bring up, so if you have a lot you might also want to limit by date in the "When to search" section. Perhaps do a few months at a time. This will also bring up any posts where you have used/quoted the word attachment but you can of course just skim past those! To delete the attachments, I suggest right-clicking on the "Edit" button on each post you want to delete from, and opening in a new tab, so that you don't have to keep redoing the search. Hit the "Edit attachments" button towards the top right (above the smiley buttons) and then choose "Delete" against each attachment. Hit "Done" and then scroll to the bottom of the edit box and click "Save changes" It is a bit laborious but far quicker than me doing it for everyone - the alternative is I delete it all indiscriminately, but I'd prefer to avoid that. If you know you've never added any attachments, you don't need to do anything!

Is there an easy way to go back and delete old photos? I'm heading out of town, and won't have my laptop with me to delete them. I'd like to do some before I leave, but I don't have time to search thousands of old posts.

Just to clarify - this doesn't apply to photos added through Tapatalk, right? Or does it?

I've deleted a few, and will continue to do so as time allows today. Just wish there was an easier way.

I know that I can go back to the daily outfit threads, but beyond that, I don't know.

On some threads, photos are posted again and again and again as people quote previous posts. Do ALL those count? That would seem one quick way to cut down on total numbers if people would just stop doing that.

You need to send a message to the Admin

Go to your profile. Down at the bottom it has a link to your threads or posts. That might make it easier to find where you have posted photos.

I would think those count because to the workings of the computer, it is using up space/bits in our posts.
I am not an expert and that is just my guess.

My opinion: highlight the text you want to reference, and put it in the quote box on your post.

I went back through each thread I had posted on and deleted through to January. I did leave the ones I just posted this week and will get rid of them in a few days or so. I either deleted the entire post but if it was a thread I started I just deleted the photos by editing the attachments.
I didn't have many and nothing from tapatalk this time. I guess every deleted photo will help.

Would you just highlight text and hit quote? When I highlight text on the laptop it automatically gives me a "quick quote" option that formats a quote of just words for me. It's an easy way to choose just a portion of someone's post to reference as I did with yours. On my phone it's not quite as easy but still doable. I use a shortcut icon through Safari to access this message board on my phone. I don't use Tap-a-Talk so I have no idea how to quote and leave photos out through that app.

I took mine out for the last 34 pages of my posts, I’m not sure how to go back farther than that?

That ought to do it!
I was able to put up the feeder photos. Thanks everyone.
I am going to try to remember and go back after about 2 months and delete. I'm not sure if I have posted photos since our last "clean up" time.

Okay, I'm lame. How do you delete photo from post? I don't see an "edit". Not sure what to click on.

One reason it takes so long is because when you click on the post, it takes you to the thread, instead of the actual post. If there are 10 pages to a post, it takes forever to find it. Oh well. I've deleted at least 15 from last year. No sure how much more time I'll have, but that should help.

There are a few I have posted for scrapbook challenges that I can't delete because some peas like to go back and reference theme at later dates, but all others I can delete up to maybe a couple of months back. I'll finish when I get back on Monday.

I went to the search tab, opened that, put in my own name for “search posts for this member” and 34 pages of only my posts came up. From there you can scroll through pretty quickly and see which ones have photos, and edit those to take the photos out. I didn’t edit the quotes that had photos in them though, that would be a little more time consuming to do I think. If the OP who posted the photo in the first place deletes it from their post, does it automatically delete that photo from all the posts of the people who subsequently quoted them? If so, that would make a lot of the photos disappear quickly. For future, I’m going to delete the photo if there’s one in a post I’m quoting from now on and hope that helps.

Well crap!!! Kinda surprised I didn't get any kind of notification about this from Proboards, but there we are.
I'll pin this thread for reference for a little while.
To be clear, the following DO NOT affect our attachment storage:
Photos added via Tapatalk
Photos linked from the gallery
Photos linked from other hosts eg Photobucket, imgur, Flickr etc
Photos in quoted posts
