As both a card maker and scrapbooker, I have tended to buy dies that I felt were more versatile. Dies aren't cheap, and I want the most bang for my buck. Two days ago, I came across a Facebook post that showed a card made with a Spellbinders die. Apparently they offer a few "die of the month" subscriptions, and the May small die is so cute! It's a scooter. It's not really what I would consider versatile, although I think I would use it a lot more than say...a llama. You can only get the little scooter die set with the subscription, and I have never subscribed to anything because I hate the thought of paying for stuff that I might not like or use. I caved. I signed up for the sub. If you want to see the die that I couldn't resist, below is the link to the sub. The picture for the sub shows a butterfly, but below that image are tiny thumbnails to click on, and you can see cards made with the scooter. Spellbinders Small Die of the Month May Scooter
Do you buy dies that are strictly versatile, or do you sometimes buy ones that are a bit more specific like this little scooter? If so, have you used them a lot, even if they aren't necessarily versatile? If you have subscribed to any of the Spellbinders die of the month subs, have you been happy with what you've gotten most of the time?

That scooter is super cute. I tend to overbuy dies, not really thinking if they're versatile or not. I only subscribed to Spellbinders small die of the month when they had their truck die (this die is so cute). Link here: www.spellbindersblog.com/october-2018-large-die-of-the-month-is-here-truckin-through-the-seasons/. This stamp was really versatile because you could use it for all the seasons. I was really happy with the purchase and Spellbinders has great quality dies. I'm currently subscribed to their card kit club just because I wanted the dress die cuts. Really like this kit: www.spellbindersblog.com/april-2019-card-kit-of-the-month-is-here-night-out/. I really like their die cuts. However, I'm not a big fan of the card bases, thought they were too thin. But everything else was really nice. Overall, it's a lovely kit but I'll probably cancel next month because I don't need anymore dies or craft supplies. But there is a nice rose die that's coming out this month, so I may hang onto the subscription for a couple more weeks.

Thanks for replying. That truck die is cute! They seem to have some past "die of the month" offerings for sale, but that does not seem to be one of them.
Do they ship the subscription kits on a certain day each month?

It's a bonus if I like what the dies are intended to make, but mostly I want things I can use to build my own ideas off of. Like I recently bought this seashell: But I don't intend to use it for the shell part. I actually wanted the incut pieces for making otter tails, and possibly some Pikachu ears.

Super cute scooter die, scrapnnana. And that TRUCK die set is amazing, craftmepink. I had no idea there was a subscription like this. Don't think I will subscribe, but I may troll through the site to see if I can pick up some deals or must-haves.
