My cheap fitness tracker has stopped working, so I’m ready for an upgrade. I’ve realized that my tracker does not count steps if my arms are not moving. Does anyone have a tracker you like that counts steps even when you are not swinging your arms?

I have the original Fitbit and attached it to my tennis shoe laces. Counts every step I take all day!

I purchased a Fitbit Charge 3 in February. I didn't think it was going to count steps (or count very well) if my arms weren't moving but I was wrong. It does count --somehow I think it learns from the sway of your body or something. It also accurately counts my steps on an elliptical even when I hold the inner handlebars which are stationary and right in front of the body.

The health app on my iPhone I'm a teacher, so I need something wearable since I don't carry my phone around the classroom.

My Apple Watch is more accurate than any Fitbit I’ve had.

I just wore my fitbit on my ankle. I was pushing a stroller for most of the day so it didn't track anything on my wrist.

I just clipped it to my bra or the waistband of my pants. No arm swinging at all Then dh upgraded me to a Charge 2. It’s fine, but I liked the simplicity of the One!

I have a fairly new Fitbit Alta. I purchased a set of aftermarket clip-on cases from Amazon that fit it perfectly and I can wear it on my waist band. I can’t wear any jewelry or a watch at my job so this works well for me, and I feel it’s much more accurate in counting steps since it’s right near my hip.

My advice would be to upgrade to a tracker with a gps in it. Google “fitness tracker with GPS” or search on amazon and a good variety show up. I have a garmin vivosport, which has a gps. It’s pretty accurate, and waterproof, which I like because I swim. The only downside is that it doesn’t track rising a stationary bike, because you’re not moving forward.

I have the opposite problem. I have the Fitbit (HR2 and now the Versa) and it counts arm movements when I’m not walking. Several times I’ve been ‘congratulated’ for 250 steps in an hour when I’m sitting at my desk at work.

I have my fit bit alta in an accessory clip that I wear most of the time on my bra, in that space between the girls. It seems to count just fine there. I don’t want want to wear it on my wrist like a watch.

I have a garmin watch looking one with the gps just for that reason. I move my arms a LOT when I talk. I love my garmin and it looks nice too, I don’t think anyone knows it is anything other then a watch.

I have a Garmin Fenix watch and love, love, love it!
Why? Because it is accurate and doesn’t chew up my data. It does sync to my phone. But doesn’t need my phone to track a thing. If my phone isn’t close to me it still works and then syncs with the phone when I have it close to me again.
I highly recommend it. Oh, and it has my music on it too.

I have the Apple Watch now and don’t have that problem.

I have a fitbit charge 3 and I find it very accurate. I do have to have it fairly snug to my wrist though. I find if it is loose then it doesn't track as well.

This thing: Omron PedometerThe women in my family swear by these. If I don't have a pocket, I slip it inside my underwear on my hip. When I used this and a Fitbit on my wrist at the same time, the errant steps being logged by the Fitbit because of arm movement was extreme...and maddening since I'd been relying on the Fitbit for so long. I'll never trust a wrist device to give me an accurate step total.

I am interested to hear the responses and suggestions as well!
After two Fitbits dying on me, I resorted to Ebay. I don't recall the one I have, but it was cheap! The app on my phone is VeryFitPro. I do not swing my arms while cutting the grass; one hand drepresses the drive handle and the other the blade handle. All of my steps are recorded. It will not record arm swings alone. My husband and I both have this style and have tried as a joke to cheat against each other (in front of the other, not really cheating!)
