One way to get Mojo flowing or get out of a rut: start with a sketch! I am actually in the middle of creating with last week's sketch, so I bring to you a layout I did a few weeks back, with a sketch that I loved and broke me out of my "typical" design rut.
Here's the sketch:
And this was my take:
You can see I shifted the title and journaling off to the side, and spread the circles around my layout into the original journaling spots.
Take as little or as much as you like from this sketch (3 stacked photos? circle embellies down an edge? staggered strip journalling?) Share what you create here!

Love the sketch: the photo strip, the circles, the layering, the white space. And I loved your page when I first saw it. Love how you show how you don't have to copy every aspect of the sketch exactly to end up with a great result!
Lots of people are planning to play with paper this weekend. Hope this sketch and sample provide inspiration to some of them.

It's a great sketch, but I like your version even better. I'm going to incorporate some of that into a layout this weekend!

Ooooh, I like this one! I really like your version too— it’s balanced very well. I hope I have time to play later this evening or sometime tomorrow.

WOW! JUST Wow! LOVE this, craftymom101! Awesome photos. Love how your colour palette lets them shine. Love all the tucked in bits on the left, that title down the middle, the "white space" at the right. Great take on this sketch!

WOW to you BOTH! dig-it-al, love how you did the vertical title, and I adore your neutral background with the alpine-feel plus travel-feel papers and stamps as the layers...it's absolutely brilliant the papers you chose! LisaDV, I too thought of straightening out the photos/layers the next time I try this sketch. I *really* like your elements down the right side, your textures are delicious, from the splatter to the fabric flower, to the shiny brad to the frame - it's so very compelling. And when you finally get around to sending me my dinner invitation, feel free to replicate this supper

I used an older SC Kit (Summit) so the papers were chosen for me!

Hey kitbop, weren't you going to pick me up at Pearson sometime so we could go on a road trip to Michigan to meet up with LisaDV? My dd is moving back west, but I still have a bunch of unused Aeroplan miles. We could make it happen next April/May...

LisaDV grammadee I am more than up for this! It would be so much fun to connect, and I've never had morels... but I love mushrooms of all sorts! May would be best if we make plans, avoid that pesky April Michigan snow

I finally got around to finishing my LO for this challenge. I had made the template, then accidentally saved it as jpg file instead of psd file, so I couldn't add any papers to the layers. I had to start from scratch which is awfully annoying. Anyway, here it is..... I used the "Blue Skies" kit by Katie Pertiet that I bought specifically for this LO.

AussieMeg, that is absolutely adorable, dogs melt my heart. Your WOW of colour is so gorgeous, and I love how you have the white background and doily, and the "quieter" red and blue papers by the photos, to let the patterns shine. The stars/sequins are lovely!

ComplicatedLady, Love this layout. I'm a sucker for travel styled layouts. I love the arrows - both the blue and the red.
