I swear up and down I posted this yesterday afternoon, but I can't find it anywhere.
Anyways, at the end of the month going to KC and trying to make plans. I'll be with my BFF for the most part but just trying to get some ideas of some touristy things to do. I used to live there so I know the area pretty much but then again been gone so long things change.
We are going to see:
Arabia Steamboat Museum (my old roommate's dad was one of the original discoverers) TWA Museum (since I used to work for them.. thought this would be neat, if it isn't closed and hard to get to since there will be an air show nearby)
Maybe the WWI tower. (which is weird because when I lived in KC this was a place NOT to go to.. bad area, lots of sketchy people but apparently it's all changed now..)
Anything else that might be fun?

There is the new street car line that goes from City Market to Union Station. Union Station always has interesting displays and events! There is some kind of reflection display outside of the station. Legends Outlet shopping is in western Wyandotte Co. Lots of shopping and restaurants. The West Bottoms in KCMO has a lot of shabby chic type of shopping. Not all of them are open unless it's the first weekend of the month, but there are many that are open. In Bonner Springs, on Oak Street, there are several cute boutique stores w/everything from clothing to home décor (again kind of shabby chic). Those are off the top of my head. Some activities depend on the day of the week. Have fun and enjoy!!!

If you like art, you should go to Nelson Atkins, have lunch there, it's very good.

Nelson Atkins Museum is amazing. If you think you might want to do their putt putt, make an online reservation.
If you want some super good ice cream - go to Betty Rae's.
The Arabia Steamboat is supposed to close in 2026 (I know that's still a ways away, but probably best to see it again if you wanted).

She thought maybe they were going to move it to another city? (Which makes no sense to me.) I wonder are they not getting the tourists there?

I only remember a little bit of the interview they did with the guy on tv about it, he said the lease will be up then and he won't pay the higher prices and they're ready to be done, I guess? Who knows what will happen.

I would hope they would sell it and keep the museum open. It’s AMAZING history. The field where it was dug up is not far from my dad and stepmom’s old house. I will make a point to go visit the next time I’m in town.

I will keep my ears open.. but now I am 99.5% sure I'll go visit now!
