Is there something different about being a coach's wife than any other hobby? I don't know expectations in this arena as I've never been married to a coach. I cannot imagine having an expectation that my DH participate in my hobby on a regular basis. I don't see this as a hobby for DH, he will be getting paid, but I also don't see it as his regular job. I also did not know the expectations. I mean I know from my DH, but I wondered what the players and parents of the players would expect if anything. If I was never there would it reflect poorly on DH? It is not something I would think about, but there may be some unwritten rule I am not familiar with since my DS was never a part of sports. It is nice to know it is really kind of all over the place based on a variety of factors. I'm kind of curious about it myself. My boss is a hockey coach and that is such a huge commitment for him. I'm going to ask him how much his wife participates. I always just likened his coaching to my craft hobbies. And yeah, my DH will go to a yarn show once a year or lollygag around Hobby Lobby on occasion but he would look at me like I had three heads if I asked him to come to my Wednesday night crochet group!

I’d probably go to a couple games, and maybe not even stay for the entire event. But I don’t like sports, so if I was married to a coach, I’d not like that lol. I do look at it as a job though...would you watch him at his other job, which is often teaching if he’s a coach? My DS never played any sports beyond 7th grade, but my DD was on Varsity dance all through high school. I literally only went to watch her dance. Football, they only danced for the first half and pre-game. I left after that. Basketball games were only halftime, so I would go during the 2nd quarter, then leave. The dancers/poms are the best part of the game! haha! My youngest daughter is on the pom squad at her high school (perform pre-game and halftime with the band) and my middle daughter is on the dance team at her university (ACC school). We get to her game 3 hrs. early for all their parades, pre-game stuff. They also dance on the sidelines throughout the game, and on the field during a timeout, so it makes the game tolerable because I watch her the whole time! I'm not a sports fan either!
