This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Happy Monday! Hope you ladies are doing well today. We had a good weekend. I am a big sports radio fan of ESPN. So on Friday, the station was having a live remote in my little city. Ron and I were able to go later that day and we missed the show. But while we were walking up we could see the fans and the radio set-up outside in the patio. We were just standing there watching and then the show host was coming out. We got to meet him and have a brief convo with him. He was very nice and that was cool. Thanks for all the cheers on my scrapping! I have more pages to make this week. Oh, I took my crocheted blanket to my moma and see loved it!!! I did get some pictures I will share. nylene- OMG, I am so happy to hear about your dh's great news! What a blessing!!! I hope he continues to get better and feel better. I think you all need a vacation of celebration or maybe just getting into regular routines will feel better. So happy for you both. That dress I wore on my birthday pictures was from JC Penney. I loved it and wish I could have gotten the next side up. It fit great but a little tight around my middle aged belly!!! LOL! Waving hi to you all and be back soon!!!

Happy July, Pokeys!
We went into town this morning for the Canada Day pancake breakfast and parade. It was lovely weather in the morning, but a storm was rolling in just before the parade that dropped the temperature to 12C. Watched the parade with a friend from inside a vehicle, then ended up just driving home. Getting updates from kids and grandkids about their days: from attending parades to participating in rodeos to working to hanging out in the hot tub.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. If you are a member of a team, don’t forget to post some pics in the Photo challenge. Bonus points if you post 31 photos.

grammadee, thanks for the note about the photo challenge. I have been able to copy the challenges into my spreadsheet so far, but with a house visitor, I haven't read through them all. He's taking a break now in his room. The kids made him play ping pong and then I made him talk. lol. kellyr21, that sounded like fun. sorry you missed the show though. I can't wait to see your blanket. I love how you are always learning new things. I think that's important. This morning I finally cleaned the front porch. We've not done anything with the outside other than sweeping the back deck, getting the pool up, and normal mowing. I purchased some of those semi-circle flag banners that I wanted to put up, but didn't want to put them up until the rails were clean. I didn't think to take a before picture. I hope I can see from a house photo how dirty they were as I want it for the new house album. I'll put the photo in the photo thread. Don put up the flag pole & flag Saturday. Little by little. Well, I've told DH that this is a scrapbook month. I'm hoping to spend some time every day working on my layouts, starting in a couple of days. After this month, I will be lucky to get 1 page done a month for the next few months as I have other things on the agenda.

kellyr21 , I think you look so nice in that dress. I'm sorry you missed the show, but glad you got to chat with the host. BTW how is the stadium going that is being built near you? I want to see your blanket. What a thoughtful gift! I am hoping that this month will be less crazy and I can get some fun scrapping done. (Don't I say that every month???) grammadee , How has your weather been for Canada Day? Watching the parade and participating in the Breakfast sounds like fun. Do you find that as years go by, home calls to you earlier in the day than when you were celebrating all day with children? We used to spend 3 days at the County Fair to see everything and enjoy the festivities. Now I go to check out the 4-H section to see the kids ribbons and then I go home. I'm becoming my mother! LisaDV , how are the sickies at your home? I hope they are all on the mend. Your cleaning and getting organized makes me tired reading about it. I'm glad you have a flag pole. I love ours. We use it as a landmark in helping people find our address. With all your busy plans I hope you can settle down and do some relaxing scrapping. maribeth , Happy Belated Birthday. I hope you had a wonderful day. Drop by when you get a moment and let us know what you are doing this summer. I have been scrapping today! It feels so good. The internet hookup is under my scrap table and behind my boxes and bins of scrap supplies. They all had to be pulled out and are still all over the floor. This was after I had reorganized so I could reach things easily. Oh, well, more points as I put the room back together! Thanks for that challenge LisaDV ! Waving to all our Pokeys. I need to learn to use the camera on my phone, so I will try to keep up with the Photo challenge.

Good Morning! I can't believe how fast this whole year is flying by! LisaDV summer DID just get there for you! The rain seems to have stopped for a few days here and of course it's hot and humid now lol. My crop with mom was fun and a relaxing day. I got the bones of a couple layouts done. We decided to forgo the shopping (she lives next door to HL) because we figured out that wrecked the mojo for the day. And HL seldom has anything new anyway so it's not my favorite place to shop lol. I want to make time to be creative everyday this month. For a few minutes anyway. I have so many ideas swirling in my head all the time and not as much time or energy. I got sucked in to the RTS rabbit hole and have been reorganizing things so it makes more sense for the way I scrap. So I'm putting together the sticker books and binders so that they can actually get used. nylene I am so so so happy to hear your news about DH!! It's time you all had some good news! Isn't it horrible being without the Internet? It's like being without power we've become so dependent on it lol. kellyr21 your weekend sounds fun and how cool to meet the host of the radio show you listen to! I met Dan Patrick years and years ago when I was a huge sports fan and he hosted the ESPN morning show that I can't remember the name of lol. I love seeing your pages! grammadee - boo to cold weather on parade day! Happy Canada Day!! I get a little envious of all the scrapping you get done! I love your energy! I have no plans for the 4th. No fireworks inside the complex and the fireworks shows around here draw big crowds so I avoid that lol. I may sit outside and watch the fireworks from the stadium, but maybe I will just listen to them and enjoy a quiet evening scrapping

nylene , the sickies are on the mend slowly. DH still has a bit of a cough and is run down, but otherwise fine. DS with his tiny nasal passages is having a harder time getting better. He was a big ol' cranky pants while we were playing games last night. DD, knock on wood, didn't fully succumb. She rested that day, took her extra vitamins, and yesterday had just a bit of a sore throat but otherwise fine. We decided not to go in the pool and give her one more day of rest to help her beat it before it fully took hold. We shall see what today brings. I can't tell you how thrilled I am that she's been able to not get it and hold it at bay. She was always the healthiest before she got sick. YAY! I'm glad you were able to scrap. Yay to organizing/cleaning up too. joyfulnana , I was wondering if you'd go shopping. Do you have a spot where you can leave things out? I found when I wanted to be creative for at least 10 minutes everyday, that leaving it out was key. I would set a timer in the beginning to be sure I spent the time. But I would just walk by and look at the layout. Maybe add something, maybe just see if I liked it. Maybe take something away. I'd do that all day long. We don't have plans for the 4th either. DS usually does our fireworks show at the farm. But we don't really have the same room here. The neighbors will be shooting off fireworks. He did invite us to their party, but his wife lived in our house with her grandparents, and she now wants to move because it upsets her according to her dh. They've been super nice. But I don't want to cause her discomfort. I'm not going to feel guilty for buying my house either though. So I don't know how to handle the situation. I figure we wouldn't go as 1) I didn't think the invitation was a genuine we want you to come, 2) I don't want to cause her discomfort. DD hasn't been wanting to travel as it does set her off. I'm not pushing her for the 4th, but really it's because I want to go to the movies this weekend. shh! ugh, it's 9 already. That means people might start getting up in my house. I guess I'll get off the board and see about creating a layout. I'd like to get a few created so I can see if there are any more challenges I need to put up.

LisaDV - Yes! Far from Home is out this weekend!! I can't wait to see that! I wouldn't feel guilty about buying your house either! It was for sale after all, it's not like you forced anyone out of it geez. I'm sorry it's upsetting to her. That's going to make things awkward I would think - at least it would for me. I probably wouldn't go either. Man, that whole situation just sucks. I do have a place to leave things out and then I make piles on it lol. I'm really having a hard time with that sketch I posted last weekend. So that in process LO is out and I'm going to leave it clear so I can mull it over while I work today.

Good to hear people have been creating. I had time yesterday but no ideas. Today I have ideas but no time. C'est la vie! Think I will print off the sketch and take out the photos and papers I want to use with it. Then next time I can play it will all be right there and I won't have to think! I did spend some time last week clearing away a lot of the scrappy flotsam, so I now have space to lay out something for a day or two. LisaDV, I think that what your neighbour is going through is grief for the home she had. I felt that way about the first home we had ever owned and had lived in for 17 years. I didn't resent the buyers, just missed "what was". Myself, my "kids", even my niece and nephew have driven by the house occasionally just to see it. One year I stopped in front of it and the lady who owned it came out to see what I wanted. I told her that dh & I had designed and built that house. She did the best thing ever: she invited me in and for a tour of their yard. She kept telling me how much she loved that home and I could hear it in her voice. Can't describe how good I felt when I left: it was like knowing a family member was being loved and cared for... I have plans for "the 4th", but not attending any festivities. Dd's possessions will be arriving by moving truck at their home which is a couple of hours from here. Since she & her family are still in Ontario until her dh completes his work commitments, I will be driving to the house to admit the movers and do the "bingo sheet", checking off all of the furniture and boxes that arrive. On the 5th, my ddil and her boys will be here for the weekend while she competes in a few rodeos in the area. So I need to get the house in order before then, so I need to get moving now. Looking forward to seeing the pages you are working on, nylene, LisaDV, kellyr21, joyfulnana. Looking forward to hearing from the other Pokeys out there. What will you be doing for the 4th, @elaynef, msliz, patin?

I do have a place to leave things out and then I make piles on it lol. joyfulnana , this made be chuckle out loud! That is soooo what I do. I'm glad you had a great day with your mom. It will be fun to see your pages when they are finished. LisaDV , I hope your DS gets on top of his illness soon. Smart idea to keep DD out of the pool for another day. grammadee , it sounds like things are normal at your home for July....busy, busy, running, busy! I don't know how you keep up with everything. We have no plans for the 4th either. DH is not going to work that day, so we will have all day together. My guess is that we will just stay home until time for our Recovery meeting. Around the corner from us the neighborhood holds a "Cul de sac of Fire" (as opposed to the huge "Stadium of Fire" held locally.) The older neighbor boys set off fireworks for about an hour. We sometimes have 100 people gathered. Our meeting should be over about the time that starts. I scrapped 3 pages yesterday. I think that's a record. I haven't scanned them yet, but will do that today. I have a few more photos to pick up at Costco and then I should have plenty to scrap.

nylene, I am so happy to hear about your dh's great news!
grammadee, loved hearing about your cold Canada Day. Its in the 90's every day here just about but we are hoping for no whole month of 100's like we sometimes get .
kellyr21, that sounded like fun and you do look great Love that picture and layout!
joyfulnana loved hearing about you cropping with mom.
lisaadv...I saw a picture of your house...so beautiful. Would love to see picture of your farm, too.
We are going to get our 2 youngest grandsons for a granny/papa camp this week. Their big brothers are going to youth camp.
So We're taking them to a play at Ragtown Theater near their home then to Big Spring to stay at the Settles hotel...a restored historic hotel ( I'm really excited about that) then here for a few days to play games and do crafts, etc.
They have some girl friends who are going to take them to a water park before they go home. These girls have been in homeschool co op with them for over 7 years and they love being together even though they live in different towns now...they Marco Polo each other in between visits!
Last weekend we had some friends come to visit who moved away 35 years ago, but we have stayed in contact and see each other intermittently. They are the kind of friends who you just pick up where you left off no matter how long it's been...rare!
I'm not sure where I got this sketch...probably here but I have been obsessed with it this week. I think I have made at least 6 layouts with it. I thought I was through with it today, but every time I pick up another pic, I see this sketch for it. That layout is the last one for Williamsburg. Only had 3 grands there so not so many times to scrap that trip. I'm about out of pics....will have to take a bunch this week of the boys.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone again soon.

@elaynef, it sounds like you will have a great time with your DGS's. They will want to stay with you two more often. Great ideas planned. I'll be waiting for your photos of the week. I love your layout. The angles are so cool and I love the red white and blues. What a great looking family! I think that's a great sketch for 8.5x11!

Happy Wednesday! I hope justjac and grammadee had a fun Canada Day!!!! Wishing the rest of you ladies a joyful 4th. No big plans here but hope to enjoy ourselves.
Here is the blanket I finished for my mom. She loved it and so did I. Recently, I started another one and I hope it turns out good too.
Granny Square Blanket by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr @elaynef - Oh boy, you are gonna have a good time with your gs. Also, your lo from the sketch turned out great. I may try that one too. I have a few more layouts to do and want to try something different. LisaDV - That lo about your dog and the meatball is too cute. That would make a great kids story. Awesome pictures too. nylene - Yes, the new NFL stadium is massive!!! Not only will it be a football stadium but a whole shopping & entertainment area. It is literally across the way from my in-laws home. joyfulnana - Yeah, Dan Patrick... I listen to his radio show sometimes. I love sports and we have been anxiously waiting to see if our Los Angeles Lakers get max player Kawhi Leonard. Fingers crossed!!! LOL!

kellyr21, That's gorgeous! I can't believe that's your first foray into the world of yarn. joyfulnana, DD & I are looking forward to it, but DS not so much. We might attempt the drive-in for it. grammadee, that's so sweet of the new owner. That's not really what's going on here (family drama from the sounds of it). I hope your house is all clean, that you have a safe drive tomorrow, and that you enjoy your visit. nylene, sounds like a wonderful 4th to me. I'm going to miss DS's fireworks show and the neighbor boys coming over this year. @elaynef, thanks, we like our new place, it just needs a lot more work that we were intending. Your time with the grands sounds like a blast. I bet the older ones will be jealous. I know I would. Your layout is beautiful!! I love it with all the red white & blue!

kellyr21, you were the first person I thought of when I heard of the earthquake. I thought Angie would be too far away to feel it. I am glad you are ok and that there were no fatalities. I'm sure it was scary. Years ago we were in Downey at my sister's home when one hit and it was our first experience with an earthquake. It was no big deal to her family but really scared our children. Your blanket is beautiful. It looks so soft and warm. What a wonderful first project. You are a pro! I am having trouble scanning my pages. I did one of our new great-granddaughter. It is pale pinks and grays and it scanned all gray. I tried taking a photo, but it's not much better. I may post it anyway. I have finished 2 others, but they are scanning very dull in color. I need to see if my scanner needs to be adjusted some. I also finished a fun card for my DS for his b-day tomorrow. I'll take a photo and post it. Waving to all our Pokeys! I hope you each have a great weekend.

Be back tomorrow. That must have been super scary!!! Glad you are okay! Love your crocheted blanket. No one would know you are new to this craft. Love your baby page, nylene. Looking forward to seeing your other pages. I have two pages finished. Will try to get them posted tomorrow. We will be having a quiet weekend. My ddil ended up with a change of plans so won't be here with the little guys. She let me know Wednesday, so I changed my own plans and actually slept over in dd's new home after the movers left, and took some time today to do a little shopping before heading home. Dd and family could not be on site, so I got up early and drove to their home where I met the movers who unloaded the truck and did set up of some of the furniture. It was a long day, and I was still tired and achy today. Lots of up and down stairs.

Good Morning! kellyr21 I'm glad you are ok and didn't have any damage! I can't say I've experienced an Earthquake, I've been in a couple, but I didn't feel them, so I don't think they count lol. I have seen some video of swimming pools and that is scary! And I've seen that you may still get an even bigger aftershock. @elaynef you weekend sounds fun! That's so cool that they are going to meet up with friends! I love your LO, the colors and the corners and I love that photo! Keeping a close friendship for 35 years is an amazing feat! Well so far this weekend has not gone the way I had it planned in my head lol. I was going to take Rudy to daycare late yesterday, and I'm such a sucker, I kept him home with me all day lol. I had some shopping I wanted to do and he didn't want to go anywhere. So we stayed here. Making messes lol. And playing the old school Nintendo 64 where I got my butt kicked lol. We wanted to go to the park and have a picnic but the weather didn't cooperate. Then went to see Spiderman - a late showing for this old woman - I started dozing off as soon as the movie started and dozed off and on through the entire thing The comfy recliner seats didn't help lol. I may sneak in a matinee tomorrow lol. I don't think I missed any of the key parts though. It was good and quite a twist at the end. (I did see that! lol) I just want to spend today scrapping. grammadee your kids are lucky to have you! Sounds like a full day supervising the movers! But exciting for you kids. Will they be closer now? I have a love/hate relationship with moving. I love starting fresh in a new place, but man I hate the packing and leaving the old one.

What a last few days we have had!!!!! It was scary but just glad we are all just fine. I have lived here my whole life, so I have been through this before. But it is still a little unsettling. Thanks for all the concern.
I just posted a new "Inspired She" about my own papercrafting story. I was a little nervous to share but so ready and excited. I hope you all stop by my blog and check it out.
Kelly's Craft Story
Thanks for all the cheers about my crocheting. I have to give the ladies in my group some credit for patiently teaching me for weeks. I had to unravel my practice pieces so much before I finally got it.
nylene- Oh yeah, I forgot your dsis lived in my city. Do you remember where? So bad our Downey area greeted you and your kids with a shake! How nerve-racking it must of been. This was our first bigger quake in 20years I heard. I hope it is a long time before another one comes.
joyfulnana- Is this a new avatar of you? It looks pretty!
Waving hi to you all and have a good weekend!

Glad you are okay, kellyr21. Hope the earth is done shaking down there. Will pop over to see the Inspired She post. @elaynef, your page is wonderful. I remember that sketch and it is very versatile. No wonder you were able to use it several times. Have you checked out the Sketchy Saturdays? I need to find the sketch I posted for this and then create a page for this upcoming Saturday. I am jealous of your time with dgk's, @elaynef and joyfulnana. We were supposed to have had two little guys here this weekend, but that did not work out. Honestly, though, I am more exhausted than I thought I would be after supervising the move in on Thursday, so this is probably not the best grandparenting time! Got some scrapping done. Put the last of the seed potatoes in the ground (supposed to have been a job for the little guys, but I got their job...) I am off to bed. TTYL.

grammadee, I can't imagine going up and down stairs right now. Your knee must be doing better. I hope you recover from the help with the moving. Your kids are lucky to have you close enough to help with moves, etc. I hope they enjoy their new home. I left you love in the gallery. I understand about taking photos or scans of metallics. It's hard to make them look good. I know they must really shine in real life. joyfulnana, I'm sure you had a great day with Rudy. It sounds like he's a busy boy! I had to laugh at your sleeping in the movie. My husband does that through most movies. We haven't seen Toy Story 4 yet, but plan to go next week. All the grands went together to see it after Cousin Camp, but we had a meeting that night. They seemed to enjoy it. kellyr21, I love your blog. That is such a great story about your discovering your creative talent. Thanks for sharing with us. I'm so glad Cindy guided you to the Pokey Peas so many years ago. You enrich my life! My sis lived on Wiley Burke Ave, I think in the 9000's. They lived there until her DH retired a few years ago and then built a home in Utah, about 30 minutes from us. I need to go put the finishing touches on my lesson for tomorrow. I teach just 4 nine year old girls. They are really cute girls and are easy to teach. Much different from the 8 ten year old boys that I had last year. LOL Have a great weekend, everyone.

grammadee, I’m glad you were able to stay overnight with the longer drive, but I’m sorry that the dgk’s weren’t there this weekend. joyfulnana, we had talked about doing the drive-in for the movie and I finally said no way. I wouldn’t be able to stay awake that long. I’ve been extremely tired this week. I say take in the matinee. kellyr21, beautiful share on your blog. nylene, it is amazing the teaching differences between boys and girls. I’ve been absolutely exhausted this week and haven’t even gotten in the pool the last 2 days. I declared I was going in even if I was still exhausted today. Maybe the sun and water will help revive me. The horrible humidity and heat that has led us to not sit on the deck at all, even in the morning or evening subsided yesterday. We were able to sit out for some time. DS even went into the pool. Only his second time since the cold, as his sinuses give him issues. The boys will be playing D&D but will break for the pool. DD says she’ll paint nails with me sometime today. So maybe another layout is on the agenda. I’ve already created 18 pages already this month. I’m very excited about that. OK, off to get some chore accomplished so I don't feel so guilty before taking a break.

Oh no, LisaDV, I hope YOU are not coming down with that bug your family has been sharing! Please get enough rest! Love all your pages about your family adventure: great photographs, and you chose the perfect embellishments to show them off. Left a comment on your blog, kellyr21. So sweet that you mentioned Cindy and the warm welcoming Pokeys. Such a wonderful place to hang out and create or just soak in the positivity. I scrapped again today. The garden was ALMOST dry enough for weeding yesterday and then it rained again overnight. I don't need to be told twice to stay indoors and play!

Good evening, Pokeys. How is everyone doing this week? Hope your road trip is going well, justjac. Loved seeing your pages and cards in the Gallery, nylene. Hope you are feeling more energetic, LisaDV. I have been enjoying your pic's in the Photo thread. Thanks for asking, nylene. I was really tired on the weekend, but feeling much more like myself today. I finished my sample for this coming Sketchy Saturday and got a good start on another two pager. Having fun playing with some summery and little boy papers. We had the first day in ages that had no rain. Dh has worked up the garden. I need to get out there tomorrow to pull weeds.
