For those who have a large collection of handbags or purses (y'all know who you are, LOL) how do you store them?
I know some people only use one per season so it's not much of an issue, but I have a pretty big collection of purses. They are not especially not high end, but I do have different colors (black, tan, red, navy) and yes, different sizes of the same color. I also have a few "seasonal" bags for summer in bright colors.
I have quite a few vintage evening bags that I have stored in a small clear storage box in the closet. The box is full, so I can't get any more, LOL.
What's a good way to store your purses so they are somewhat easily accessed (don't want to go exploring in the darkest depths of my closet) but not just sitting there getting dusty or in the way.
Several years ago I sewed myself a purse storage thing that had several "bags" made of flannel that the purses slipped into and it hung on the back of the closet door. Now I have too many to fit in it and with moving I don't know if it will fit on the closet door without being in the way.
I would love to see how others store their handbags. Any new ideas are welcome. Yes, I know getting rid of them is an option, and I have purged, but need an idea to wrangle the ones I want to keep.
Please share your ideas!

I have mine on a shelf in my closet. It’s a bit like shopping every day. But my closet is huge and well lit, so I’m not digging anything out.

Mine was very similar. I did shelving on two sides of the closet and out lighting in. If I'm going to hoard them I may as well enjoy them. I recently purged hardcore and only kept 4 handbags :0

man oh man. well, most of them are in the dust bags they came with on shelves. others that are more casual are in drawers. most used daily ones are readily available on hooks.

My closet has built-in shelving in two places; one side of the closet is shoes, the other is purses.

Y’all make me feel like a failure as a woman I only have 5 I think and regularly only use 1. They sit on a shelf in my closet.

They are lined up in a row in their dust bags in my closet. I keep 3 or 4 downstairs in the hall closet and swap them out seasonally or per my whim. I don't buy purses very often anymore though, and could probably stand to get rid of some of them.

The ones I use most frequently each season are on hooks in my porch (not like a US porch 🙂) those I rarely use are in a deep drawer standing up. Others are in a cupboard in the porch. I’ve probably forgotten about some of them!

I have mine lined up on the top of my shelves - but they all have a dust bag so you can't see them. I can tell which bag is in which dust bag by where it is on the shelf.

Is it bad that I’m laughing at how many mention the dust bags they came with? I think I’ve only bought one or two purses that even came with dust bags. I’ve spent a couple hundred dollars on a bag in the past, more than once, and at nice stores, but never many hundreds or more. At what price point is a dust bag part of the purchase?

Why don't you make a modified version of your "purse storage thing" for the closet door that hangs on hangers? Then you could just hang them on the regular closet rod. You could even make it two sided. Use a plastic or wood hanger to make it sturdier.

Hanging my head in shame. My dust bags are usually from Macys or TJMaxx and made of plastic!

Mine are all in their duster bags, lining the top shelve of a walk-in closet. The ones that don't fit are on a bottom shelf. Right now I'm down to 24 purses - I recently purged. I feel I can purge again as some of the purses I kept I just know I will never use again.

You can buy knock-offs on the NYC streets and get a dust bag for $40. I have spent four times that for a Coach purse and not gotten a bag. Who knows.

moodyblue, My Black Friday coach purse that was only 150.00 came with a dust bag. I don't think it's necessarily the price but maybe brand that provides them. Who knows?

Mine are mostly in their dust bags and lined up on shelves in my closet. A few are in their dust bags and then in their original boxes. Most are stuffed with pillow inserts (you can get super cheap ones at ikea) to help them keep their shape.

The pillow insert idea is genius. I’m going to head to ikea and get some. Much neater and easier than using tissue paper.
