I posted this on the scrapping board, too, but I figured that I would try here, too.
Yesterday I tried to scan something with my printer and Photoshop Elements 12. I’ve been using Photoshop for years. This time it claimed it could not find any WIA device. I updated my printer drivers, shut everything down and rebooted both the computer and the program. No change. I replaced the Twain in my Photoshop software. Shut down, etc. No change. It prints, but it won’t scan. My DH is more tech savvy than I am, and he has no suggestions, either.
I really don’t want to have to go to the newer versions of Photoshop that require a subscription. I don’t use it enough to justify the monthly cost, although I use it often enough for this to be a real annoyance.
Any helps or suggestions you can think of, please? Or are there free/low cost programs for scanning other than Photoshop Elements?

Is your printer/scanner wired or wireless? What brand is it?

When my Canon printer would print but not scan (this was quite a bit ago), the solution turned out to be to do a deep uninstall of Norton and then a reinstall. A windows operating system update somehow messed it up and this was the solution. Maybe temporarily disable your anti-virus and try scanning?

Does your printer have a usb? I can scan and save directly to a flash drive then move flash drive to my laptop and save it there.

Thank you for the responses and suggestions. It gives me a few more things to try.
My printer is a Canon. It’s been a great printer up to now. Unfortunately, both my printer and my computer are older. My husband has a wirelss printer/scanner that is fairly new. Photoshop wouldn’t recognize it, either.
