No music, slide show, viewing, wake, memorial, funeral, or celebration of life for me. If they could play my Disneyland 50th Anniversary CD while I'm doing my cremation thing, that would be fun. The ride through music from Mr. Toad's Wild Ride would be particularly appropriate (SPOILER-you end up in hell) My kids know what to do after that.

What a great idea to think of planning songs ahead. Although my kids would have no trouble coming up with songs I feel strongly about.
Off the top of my head they’d probably play The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel
Tom Petty’s Learning to Fly
And I’ve already told them they must play Radiohead’s How to Disappear Completely
OP I’m sorry about you Mom.

i am another one that does not want a funeral. perhaps an informal gathering for my kids and close friends... but i hate funerals and they cause me so much anxiety, why would i want to put my loved ones thru that?
as for slide show/songs... also wouldn't want that. i could go to a complete strangers funeral and those things make me sob. i would prefer if someone wanted to do that, host it on FB or flickr or something and send link out to specific family members that my kids would want to share it with.
i am an outgoing, friendly person and have lots of amazing people in my life that i am so very grateful for. personally, i just find death and grieving incredible personal and private.

So sorry What about that old song by Cream ...” if a picture paints a thousand words then why can’t I paint you....” Not sure exactly what it’s called but that’s the main gist I attended a funeral where this was played during the slides and it seemed very appropriate.
Not to make light of your distress but one of my DS said he will play “ding dong the witch is dead” from the Wizard of Oz and Pink’s “ I’m coming up so you better get this party started...”at my funeral hahahahaha- I think he was joking......

Like many of you, I don't want a formal funeral. I want to be cremated and maybe have a celebration of life party. I do like the photo/video/slideshows though so I think to have that going somewhere in a corner would be nice.
I enjoy how we can all be matter of fact about death and discuss what our thoughts & feelings are. In many circles, that might be taboo.
