A neighborhood woman does spa services from her home. We are here getting facials. I usually tip for these services at a spa and assume I would here too.
Would you tip? Does the location make a difference?

Yeah I would tip.. she is doing that same service at home or where ever.. it's the same service. And I am a pretty stingy tipper.. meaning I don't tip everyone and their dog. Sick of it.. but in this case, sure thing.

I'd tip. I'm with workingclassdog. I don't tip for everything under the sun, but spa type services always.

I would assume she owns the business and sets her own prices, so no.

If I plan on being a repeat customer I do tip. I like to think that it helps if I need an appointment with short notice.

if she owns the business and gets 100% of the money, then no.

I think protocol says you don't need to. If you go to a hair stylist who rents their space at a salon, you are supposed to tip - but if the owner of the salon is the stylist, you don't need to. Having said that, I'd probably still tip a nominal amount.

Not if she is the owner getting 100% of my payment. She has set her own prices.

My massage therapist books appointments out of her home in a dedicated room for massages. Although she's clearly self-employed, I still tip each time I go for a massage.
To me, personal care services like that just seem appropriate for tipping.

I'm curious... Is it a legal business...... with the proper licenses and permits, following city and county codes? Is it an on side and under the table type business..... unlicensed, no permits, violating city and county codes?
