It’s so sad that someone so young is now gone. She’s the same age as my daughter and I saw a report that she struggled with depression as my daughter does. So far, I am hearing it is an overdose but I hope it wasn’t suicidal. At any rate, it’s a tragedy and sad to see a life cut short.

The article said she was suffering from depression. It’s a disease that doesn’t discriminate.

I read this article and thought about the peas. Wasn’t there a thread recently where a school was doing drug testing on their students? I seem to remember that some peas were upset and would refuse to let their child be tested. When I saw this about the Kennedy girl, I thought “I bet no one knew she was doing drugs”. I don’t know this for sure but it’s chilling to look at this girl and think this is the face of drug abuse. She looks like an angel. I wish someone had drug tested my kids. It might have made for a much nicer 14 years for me and my family. My heart breaks for her family.

The article talks about her history of depression. Toxicology reports would indicate whether she died of a possible deliberate or accidental overdose. She may well have been on anti-depressants, legally prescribed. But you seem to be jumping to illicit drug use, and I’m not sure why.

She could have had a script for benzos and used those. While not technically illicit, I would still classify that as a drug overdose.

Yes, it’s a drug overdose death, but he wasn’t using illicit drugs. And I don’t know what this latest Kennedy family death has to do with the testing of high school students? You talk about no one suspecting her of using drugs - but if she battled depression it’s quite likely she had an Rx for something, her family knew, and drug testing would not have revealed anything not already known.

The article said she was suffering from depression. It’s a disease that doesn’t discriminate. Yes!!!! She's been suicidal before. She posted articles about her depression and seemed to be on a better path for a while. Still, there are many relatives in that family with mental illness and she lost her life due to it. As far as benzos and other opioids, I'm on them (severe chronic pain) and see a pain mgmt doctor every 3 months, give blood and urine tests and sign a contract with him. He checks my medical status with my surgeon just to make sure things are legit. With his strict instructions, I can't see making an error with my meds. He's that thorough. I'm sure it happens with doctors or patients who fall thru the cracks though.

Have they released the official cause of death? Just because a media report indicates that she suffered from depression in the past doesn't mean that she was doing or overdosed on drugs or took her own life. Good lord there are other legitimate causes of a young person dying without the need to speculate. Lets stop the guessing and the gossip spreading and wait for the real facts.

I meant to come back to this thread but the days slipped away. RFK Jr. penned a heartbreaking eulogy for Saoirse. Eulogy It actually made me ashamed of some of my first thoughts about her death and most recent photos. After reading it, my father said "it kind of makes me wish I had the chance to know her." His instagram also contains hundreds of photos of her with her cousins and other family members. They are touching and it also gave me a lot to consider about the Kennedy family instead of just the tabloid/history book/magazine spreads that we are used to seeing. Whatever else there is to say about the family, they certainly seem to have an abundance of love. Given the place I'm at with my own kids, I was most touched by the photos of Cheryl (Saoirse's aunt) moving her into her first college dorm at Boston College a few years ago. I also had no idea about Saoirse's dad and his own role in history and connection to the Kennedy family.
