Hi,
I am looking for a scrapbook store to take my mom to in South Cali. We are in the Encinitas/Carlsbad area, but would be willing to drive north/south either way for at least 45 min to an hour to get somewhere we can scrapbook. I have searched online to no avail, it seems like the last one in San Diego proper closed a while ago. I know some of the smaller stores don't have websites-I did go on the thread that lists stores (fell down a rabbit hole regarding Kelly Purkey and a store in Cali that called a customer out on what they bought online, whew that was crazy!) but all the stores listed have closed. Just thought I would check in with the peeps in the know...thanks!

sadly, it seems like all of the SB stores in the Los Angeles area have disappeared. there used to be a big one in Torrance that closed a few years ago and a smaller one near LAX that closed around that time too. there were also ones in Long Beach/Lakewood that tried to make a go of it a few years back but they closed too. i honestly don't know of one in the greater Los Angeles and Orange County area that's still open or worth going to.

I believe the one in Huntington Beach is still open. I think it is called A Perfect Day. I have not been there so not sure if it is worth a trip up from SD.

One is Frank Garcia Studio in Upland, their website is www.frankgarciastudio.com, if you are willing to drive a little more there is a store in Chino, This N That, a little bit of a strange shop since they have a dry cleaners inside, but you may find some things, their website isn't updated much but here it is: http://www.tntscrapbooking.com .. Hopefully that helps!

I didn’t know about the Frank Garcia store. That isn’t far from me— I’ll have to check it out.
There is a nice store in Covina, Hearts and Crafts. The last one for miles around, I guess.

There is a cute bead shop in downtown Carlsbad, near the doughnut shop and they have classes you can sign up for. Might be something to do besides scrapbooking. They were very helpful to beginners.

There is a Tuesday Morning near Encinitas, short drive from In and Out so you could go shopping for scrapbook supplies after getting a burger .

A Perfect Day in Huntington Beach is active on Facebook. You can check them out there.

caangel mentioned Perfect Day in Huntington Beach. It’s a small store and they have a lot of Lawn Fawn. Not worth the drive really. There’s also Stamp Fever in Orange. I haven’t been there in years but they did have a lot of stamps, ink, and cardmaking supplies. They also have classes so if you and your mom are interested you could give them a call. The only thing we have here any more is the expo. We do get to have 2 though—one in Pomona and one in Ontario. I, too miss the days when I had 5 LSSs within a half hour’s drive.

Thanks for the ideas...ran them past my mom who lives in Carlsbad (and thinks driving to Leucadia is "far") She isn't down with going to Frank Garcia Studio, which is too bad because it looks amazing. I get it though, she isn't in great health and she doesn't want to be that far from home. I appreciate the idea about beading, but she really really wants to go scrapbooking with me, and because I am coming from MN, it isn't feasable to bring all my stuff (although I did fly with my cricut once) so I thought a store might be a nice compromise. I wonder if JA or M's would let us use their classroom space if there isn't anything going on. Or I could try and find a CM rep I guess. I might try and make some page kits up and see how that goes, but I know she wants to shop too and get some stuff of her own. One giant whine..."I MISS SCRAPBOOK STORES!!"

Perfect Day Scrapbooking is a small store, but they do have space to scrapbook. And they have a lot of classes. And not that I want to promote corporate stores over an LSS, but there is a Tuesday Morning a few miles from Perfect Day. Michael Strong is a rubber stamp designer and cardmaker in San Diego. Maybe he would have suggestions for someplace to crop. He drives up to Perfect Day once a month to teach.
