The what-are-you-doing-today thread inspired my post, lol. I am having a ridiculously good time catching up on all my laundry with my BRAND NEW WASHER AND DRYER! omg, lol. Who know that I'd be this happy over new laundry appliances. We moved to this house 20 years ago and the washer and dryer that we just got rid of were already here! So they were at least 20 years old! Over the past year the washer would go off balance on the spin cycle so in order to do laundry we'd have to hang around the basement waiting for spin to start, or set a timer and run upstairs to do other things, then risk breaking an ankle rushing back downstairs. ugh. So needless to say a lot of laundry piled up. My dh never had problems because he'd do his laundry at night while he was down there in his hobby room. Plus he does just his clothes, not sheets, towels, blankets etc... all the things that were more likely to throw it off balance. I kept suggesting we needed new ones and he'd say "but these are still good". Yeah okay. I hate to do laundry anyway... Well last month the washer suddenly started leaking from underneath. Dh actually had the NERVE to say "maybe we can call the appliance repair..." um... NO WAY! I told him absolutely not, we were buying a brand new washer and its equally brand new dryer companion. I went to Home Depot, came back a few hours later with delivery dates. Done. I bought a washer that has no agitator in it and omg wow do I LOVE it! I can pile all the blankets in, towels, even bathroom rugs. And it doesn't go off balance! And the dryer dries a whole load in a fraction of the time that the old one took. I'm almost caught up on all the laundry that had piled up, all sheets are washed, dried and put away. All towels are washed, dried, and either in the linen closet or in a bag to take to the animal shelter. Same with those soft Kohl's throw blankets. My dd says "is this how you know you're really an adult, when a new washer and dryer are so much fun?" hahaha

When things make life easier it is simple to fall in love with them!
I bought my first new appliance about a year ago — a French door fridge with freezer on the bottom. Pretty sure I still smile at that thing every morning! It is spacious and it is efficient.

We love our new washer and dryer. They are fast, do a great job, and I have the option of adding more clothes during the cycle or adding more water. And the sensor on the dryer helped us discover that our vent was almost completely blocked!

My timer broke on the el cheapo dryer that we bought a couple of years ago. I was hoping to wait until the new year to get a new one but after just a few days, I don't think I'll be able to wait that long. LOL

We were just going to use our old appliances for the cabin after we rebuilt it. We had two fridges that are probably 10 years old, nothing fancy but they work and were clean. The old electric stove that had been upstairs before in the old part of the cabin was probably from 1975 and I doubt it had been turned on in 15 years. I’ve been stalking this home outlet place that sells scratch and dent and overstock furniture, appliances, flooring, etc. looking for a big patio table and saw some nice five burner gas stoves. About a week later I got an email that they were having a huge appliance blow out sale, 20-30-40% off their already low prices. I dragged DH over there and scored a brand new stainless steel gas range for under $400, with a one year manufacturer’s warranty even. When we brought the new stove to the cabin to put it in, we saw that the construction guys had uncovered and moved a pile of our stuff, including the old stove, from one side of the porch to the other to get at some outlets and it smelled like something died in there. We went around smelling all the wood furniture and other stuff looking for the source, and it was that old stove! Nasty! I’m so glad we didn’t turn it on. A few weeks later, DH was at the wholesale place he gets stuff for work and they had a floor model of a stainless steel French door refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom that they were taking off the show floor. Did we want it? He said we could get it for $1100. Water, ice and crushed ice through the door, ooh. Looked online and the same model was being sold at Home Depot for $1800. So we bought it. We’ll move one of the old fridges downstairs for the backup beverage cooler and we gave the second one to our neighbor for his garage beer fridge because his old one died. New appliances are soooo nice!

it's amazing the stuff we take for granted. when we redid our laundry room, we had to do laundry at the laundry mat. that wasn't fun. when we finally got the new machines, i washed and dried for 9 hours straight. DH caught me just standing there for a minute, just watching the clothes spin. LOL.

I'm getting a new washer & dryer Thursday. I'm pretty disappointed that our Whirlpool Cabrio set only lasted 5 years. We're going with Samsung this time. They're black stainless steel!

its equally brand new dryer companion THIS combination of words pleases me!! We looked at appliances for the new house a couple of weeks ago. There are so many features to consider. The only thing I knew for sure was that I wanted a quiet dishwasher, and a glass-top stove. Our current washer needs to run 2 cycles to get things completely dry.

Yay for you! I find I get so accustomed to the work arounds I need to do in my daily life, to the less than pleasant aspects, that I don’t reaalize how much they really affect me until they are gone. If you want to have some more fun I am behind a few loads...

I love decluttering and organizing and can offer up my services.
