That's a great update on the lighting and trim work. A very clever solution. I'd love to see more photos of your new kitchen.
We are in the middle of ours (started June 1st) and it doesn't look like it's going to be finished until sometime in late November. I'm hoping to at least have the counter tops on and sink and appliances in by the middle of October but that's looking overly optimistic. The painting started June 1st. The total demo of the kitchen started September 2nd and it's been a long month already. I don't know if there is a standard for what gets finished first, but our stove and sink had to wait on counterstops. All those happened in the last week before completion. I thought I had to wait a long time, I don't know that I could survive 6 months. The missing sink was the biggest issue. You never realize how many things require water. Our only viable option for washing dishes was outside and that got old real fast. We resorted to lots of take out and convenience food. I'm still carrying those 10lbs I gained over those 3 months.

lisacharlotte, we really complicated things by doing our 2 main floor bathrooms and the laundry room as well at the same time as the kitchen. What happened was we bought too much granite and we wanted to use what we had so there was enough for all the counters downstairs.
Luckily, there is a small 6 inch bar sink in our family room build-ins so we have one tiny sink to use. Our new fridge is sitting in the family room right now and the other appliances are each in a different room downstairs. My DS said the house looks like we are kitchen horders as there is kitchen stuff everywhere you look!!!
This morning we discovered the fridge was too tall for our cabinets so we had to measure and cut away part of the cabinet box. Fun times...

That fix turned out great. You must share the completed pictures when it’s done.
