We had already watched Mrs. Maisel, Sneaky Pete, Jack Ryan and season one of Goliath and were searching for the next one when I came across The Night Manager. We were blown away with how good it was! Hugh Laurie from House and Olivia Coleman from Broadchurch and soon to be Queen Elizabeth on the crown were two of the stars. It is INTENSE but only one season of 6 episodes and you're done.

OH I haven't!!! I remember we watched another British show, in a quaint seaside village, with a blond female police officer, but I can't remember the name. It's good though. I'll check Shetland too!

Oh, the other British show we watched was Happy Valley on Netflix, also Doc Martin - neurotic doctor with a blood phobia - I'm not sure where we watched it - amazon, hulu or netflix. ugh.

Bodyguard on Netflix is great . The fall is a brilliant series ( two actually )as well if you haven’t seen either of those . Marcella and unforgotten .
Two series of ‘keeping faith ‘ on prime - the music is wonderful in that .

Shetland was filmed in Shetland. We have watched this, loved it and there are four seasons to date.
Also have watched Broadchurch and Hinterland. May as well add in Vera here. Love me a good British series.

Reminds me of this: I Can’t Stop Watching European Crime Dramas "Every so often, I get caught up with the desire to find a creatively and spiritually fulfilling hobby — and then I inevitably end up parking myself in front of the TV to binge-watch yet another European crime drama. I’ve done this so many wretched times in the past few years that most of the shows have blended together in my mind to form one 500-hour-long dark murder mystery — with two mismatched detectives who have terrible work-life balance, and constant rain — that occupies far too much brain real estate. (I’ve also somehow watched four entire seasons of a Danish show about a sassy teacher who breaks the rules, so I clearly need help.)" www.thecut.com/2019/01/11-best-european-crime-dramas-2019.htmlThey are SO awesome. I don't watch any American ones, but most of the UK ones. Why? Because the people in the UK ones look real (Sarah Lancashire, Olivia Colman, Alison O'Donnell, etc.) When I see ads for American crime dramas, I see sets that look ridiculously polished and high-tech and women running after perpetrators in high heels and pencil skirts. UK crime dramas look like real offices, w/real people. That makes me believe/fall into the story a whole lot more than watching overly-made-up perfectly-proportioned actors who scream "this is fake" as I watch them.

I've avoided it because of Hugh Laurie. I hated House but I've never seen him in anything else. Maybe I'll give it a go.

I'll check out "Night Manager"....thanks, doodlebug! Has anyone watched " Tangle?" I just started and I like it, but not SURE if I'll stick with it. For my fellow "Offspring" fans ( AussieMeg Sue)----one of the stars is the actress who played Nina's sister. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVqq3UEcnSQ

I don't know why, it's set in my town and it has some of my favourite actors in it. At least it's only 3 seasons, so not too big a commitment. ETA: I just watched the preview on the link you posted, and I was excited to hear one of my favourite songs from way back in 1981!

I love foreign detective shows. I am all caught up on MidSomer, Murder in Paradise, Republic of Doyle and on season 7 of Father Brown.
I have only made it through 1 season of Hinderland-it’s a tad dark. And one episode of Broadchurch.

I was afraid you were gonna say "Undone". Dh had read that it was really good but after 2 and a half episodes we were still like 'wtf are we watching?' so gave up on it.
