I have a MacBook Air 2018. It is my first experience dealing with a Apple product. I have Apple Care.
In addition to computer issues I am having internet issues today. I'd rather deal with someone in person anyway. Can I go to the Genius Bar. Do I need an appt?
I can't find a phone number to make an appt at my local store

Google “Apple store” and your city. That should get you to your local stores website. From there you should see where you can make a reservation and other help info.

Apple has made it much more difficult to actually make a Genius Bar appointment. One guy told me it's because SO many people were using it for little things that people with more major issues weren't able to get appointments. Makes sense I guess but it's still frustrating.
Once you find the link to make a Genius Bar appointment you need to choose "hardware issue" or whatever that option is. If you click anything else you'll get siphoned off into the online support and you'll have to start over.
Another thing you can do is do the phone chat help. I find this option to be VERY helpful. First of all you get an American who's on a good phone connection (my biggest pet peeves about phone "support"... India, and bad phone quality). Then what they do, with your permission, is they can link with your computer so that they can control a cursor on your screen. They cannot click anything, it's only a pointer. But is is SO helpful. Instead of them saying "now look up in the top left of your screen, click "file", then do you see on the drop-down menu where is says "import"?..." (or whatever)... Well instead of that they just move their big red cursor to the top left and the person says "click here". Then the drop down menu comes and the red cursor moves to "import" and the person sons "click import". lolol. It just saves so much time. I was a bit hesitant at first but then I realized that first of all the Apple person does not have any ability to click or change anything. And second, I called them so I know they're the real Apple people. Now I always use this option, unless it's an actual hardware issue that will need hands-on repair at the store. Then I use the Genius Bar.

And yes, they do call you, unlike other places that ask you to leave your number and then never call back.

Thank you PolarGreen12 and shamrock! Might be your internet provider and not the computer Yeah, it's both. That is why I did not want to do the phone option because if I am having internet issues, can they even help me? Apple has made it much more difficult to actually make a Genius Bar appointment. One guy told me it's because SO many people were using it for little things that people with more major issues weren't able to get appointments. Makes sense I guess but it's still frustrating. YES!!! That is why I posted here, in case someone knew something different. I have fixed my issues sufficient enough to deal today. I will still use the phone option to make sure everything is cleared up. Thank you for sharing how it all works on the phone. Another option is for them to call you. I don’t know that I’ve ever waited more than 5 minutes for that option. And yes, they do call you, unlike other places that ask you to leave your number and then never call back. Thank you for that info. Yeah, I kind of was wondering if I would actually get a call. But there was still the internet issues to deal with. Thank you all.

I always just take my computer in. They give me an appointment time (usually and hour wait). The store is in an outdoor mall, so I just meander around until they text me to come in.

Internet--what is or isn't going on? Sometimes the pages won't load. I have to restart or shut down to get it to move. Sometimes the fix is for a long while, sometimes it almost immediately starts having the same issue. I tried to google, but it was way over my head. I don't think it is the internet provider because we have no issues with the smart tv.

The problem may or may not be duplicated when you're in the Apple Store.

Yes, this is what I plan to do now. are you sure your computer is connecting to your wifi and not someone else in the neighborhood (mine will sometimes do this)? Yes, I don't remember where, but I did see our wifi name while I was fiddling around with it.

Ok...so it's your internet connection. Apple can't help, at least from what you said above.
-Check to see that you are connected to your internet-find the name of your connection. On a Mac up on the very top bar you should see a "fan" icon. Click that icon. Scroll to the name of your network. That's what you should be on. Mine shows a check mark to what I'm connected to.
-If you are connected to your internet: you could unplug your internet service, let it sit for about 3 minutes or so. Plug it back in and wait about 5-10 minutes for it all to connect again. Your provider could of done an update that hasn't totally taken into the system.
-You may need a booster unit to increase your wi-fi signal. Why? Because you've stated you have a Smart TV. That is using your internet too. So even if you are the only one using your signal your tv is using it too. If you have an Alexa or anything else all of that uses your signal too. You may not have enough power with just a router to use everything you have attached to it.
---If you have nothing else and you're away from where the connection enters your home you probably need a booster. I say this as I have 2 boosters in my home due to the home layout. I have one in the upper level and one in the basement level of our home. We don't have any Smart TV's. Our computer usage is the computers only as we don't have anything else connecting to our wi-fi.
