I'm not entirely sure that I really want to know the answer. LOL
I recently noticed that my Walmart sells packages of chicken feet. They look sooooo gross. They still have the claws/nails/whatever they are called, and I can't for the life of me figure out who would eat them. And why.
Enlighten me, peas!

Chicken feet are often served as part of dim sum (Chinese food).

My co-worker was from another country and she and her family ate them. Not sure how they were prepared but they liked them.

I think dogs that eat a raw diet probably enjoy them.
They completely gross me out. I’ll never forget seeing a huge pile of them at the Asian grocer 🤢

I knew there had to a logical reason for Walmart to sell chicken feet. I'm glad I asked!

Dim sum is wonderful- "Dim sum is a style of Chinese cuisine. It is prepared as small bite-sized portions of food served in small steamer baskets or on a small plate"
The servers walk around with various trays of food and you choose what you want to eat-skipping the chicken feet. You pay by the number of steamer baskets on the table.

If you watch one of the 90-Day Fiancee shows, you'll find out pretty quickly that what you DON'T do with them is serve them to your American daughter-in-law and her family when they come to visit you in the Dominican Republic! #thefamilychantel

I love a good dim sum!
One of my favorite things I've had in NYC is xiao long bao, aka soup dumplings. It's not dumplings in soup, it is actually soup in dumplings! How do they get soup inside? They make a broth with ingredients that gels like a jello when chilled. Then they put the jello into a dumpling wrapper along with some meat and steam it, and it becomes soup again. SO GOOD!!!! I haven't been able to find a restaurant here that actually makes them vs. reheating something they've bought.
I tried to recreate them, but it is very hard. I have actually mastered the soup/jello part but not the dumpling wrapper.
But I digress. I've seen several recipes that make the broth with chicken feet.

Supposedly they make an amazing bone broth because they are high in collagen. Came across it one day when trying to find out how to make a more flavorful chicken stock.

I got a couple extra Turkey feet when I bought a free range turkey at a farm a few years ago. It really did make a super rich broth. I'm going to have to look for chicken feet for the next time I do broth, I had no idea you could buy them at Walmart.

Growing up we fed them to the pigs. But I ‘hear’ you can pickle them. Not sure what exactly your eating off chicken feet they are all skin & bone. I’m not into eating skin & bone, I’d have to be really hungry.

My favorite soup dumplings were at Dim sum garden on Race st in Philly. Very inexpensive too.

Oh! I forgot I saw them on Chopped once. Looks like the episode is going to air in a couple weeks Chopped S8E1: Trick or Treat, Chicken Feet!
I'd actually like to try them. But I do love trying weird foods. DH would die right there...

I think I would be able to use them to make broth, but yeah, putting them in my cart...not sure I can do it. LOL And I would have to put them into the broth in a cheesecloth pouch or something.
Thanks again, Peas! I knew you would know.

I’ve eaten a lot of Dim Sum and have never ordered chicken feet. The pork buns and shrimp dumplings are my favorites!

DH had chicken foot soup in Peru- he said it was good! Apparently you suck out whatever's inside the foot as part of the soup.

I lingered over your thread title for a little while before clicking through to see what you meant. Part of me was hoping that chicken feet was something that people could suffer from - you know, like pigeon-toed. And what you could do to make them more balanced. Or something...

Dim Sum can include many, many different food items and you pick what you want and skip the rest. As for eating the chicken feet, I tried it a long time ago. I think I just ate the skin as I don’t think there is really any meat. We did not eat the bones.

Yep, I've eaten them a few times. I thought they were good, but there isn't much to them. Chicken feet are often served as part of dim sum (Chinese food).

You should try them. They're mostly just skin, connective tissue, and bones. The texture is interesting. The skin is fatty and very tender, and the connective tissue goes kind of gelatinous. The bit of meat is very chickeny. They were in a slightly sweet seasoned sauce when I had them. Messy to eat. You can't eat them daintily. Worse than crawfish. But tasty. You have to eat around the little bones. They're more of a "sit and savor" dish, lots of work for a few morsels of meat. I might have them again if I ever go back to a Dim Sum that serves them. Oh! I forgot I saw them on Chopped once. Looks like the episode is going to air in a couple weeks Chopped S8E1: Trick or Treat, Chicken Feet!
