Nah, doesn't annoy me. I'm over 60 and most people I work with are early 20s-40ish. I laugh to myself when they say 'you're not old'. I don't mind getting old--I get to retire in a few months, so yay for me! You will love being retired! I have been retired 3 months.

Wouldn't bother me, unless I already really disliked her.

Not in the least. When I was in college I hung out with friends a lot in a big old house they rented from an older couple. They would occasionally come by and come into the room, saying "Hi, kids!" in their Tulsa accents. They were cute.
When I come home, and all the pets are gathered around, I say "Hi kids!" to them in my Tulsa accent. I think it's cute and kind of funny.

No it wouldn’t bother me a bit. It’s a harmless greeting to the group. Life is too short to worry about stupid stuff like that.

Hey if someone wants to call me a kid I'm all for it. Pick your battles.

I'll validate you a little - it would annoy me a bit because to me kids are children (elementary school or younger - I wouldn't even use collectively for tweens/teens) and it seems like an unprofessional address for adults. But I wouldn't linger on it - I would chalk it of to people being different and move on. If you're overly annoyed by it, it's probably one of several things that annoy you about this co-worker ^^^ that. It would bug me too, but more because of the unprofessional-ness and over-familiarity of a greeting like that. Call me a fuddy-duddy if you want; I just don't like fake-cheery stuff like that. Also, I don't like when people don't address you by your name. I try very hard to do that, and I wish other people would do the same- no 'hey, buddy' or 'hello, dear' if the person SHOULD know your name. I'd also be bothered by the repetitiveness of it- there's a supervisor here- not mine, thankfully- who comes in every morning and says "Happy Day-of-the-Week!" every gosh-darn day... "Happy Monday!" "Happy Tuesday!" "Happy Wednesday!" It just starts sounding REALLY fake when she says it ALL the TIME like that.

I am hoping that I am not the only one that is, at the same time, intrigued and paranoid when reading coworkers threads. I often wonder what I do to annoy people, because you know that we all have/do something.

Nope, not at all. We have a male friend who uses that as a greeting and sometimes "Hi, Children" in Chef's voice from "South Park" and I just think it's sort of funny.

It wouldn’t bother me. I used to call a bunch of female coworkers chickadees...no one seemed to mind.

I'm not a morning person really, it might bug me but it would depend who is saying that. but probably would..
I have a co-worker across from me that refuses to use my first name.. it's always Ms. xxx. Ms. xxx how are you today? Ms. xxx did you watch the runaway show? Ms. xxx you look so beautiful today.
This is every.single.day. I am NOT beautiful every single day. She is as sweet as can be and means well.. but some days I just want to say my name as loud as possible..

Meh - not really. I hate the guy at a local pizza parlor who always calls me "young lady." I'm almost 55, he's about 35. It's condescending and obnoxious. My sorta boss, which I don't see everyday, always says How you doing young lady.. (he's younger than me.. I'm 51 and he is around 41)... doesn't bother me for some reason.. as it must be his personality. But I always respond back with something funny.. 'doing good old fart' or "doing good old man'... he gets a chuckle out of it. He's the warden and super busy, so to even see him stop for a 2 second conversation is impossible.

It wouldn’t bother me and I might reply ‘Hi Mom’, unless of course she was my bitch eating crackers. Then I’d be pissed.

No, not at all. In fact, we sometimes use that greeting in my group of friends and many of them are older than me.

It wouldn't annoy me in the slightest, but it would bug the heck out of a couple of my colleagues who like to whinge and complain about everything.

it might bother me. I seem to have gotten really tired of hearing "guys" all the time. I use it, too, though, but it's like I hear it multiple times a day.
Something someone else said upthread reminds me that I can't stand hearing people say that someone is, for instance, "80-years-young". that pretty much drives me insane.

I am clearly a much more horrible person than most of you. I don't know if "Hi, Kids" would do it but I have two coworkers whose greetings make me want to scratch my own ears off every morning. I really like these two women, so it's not that. And I'm good in the morning, so it's not that. It's got to be a combination of our very first interaction every. single. morning being the exact. same. thing and also weirdly fake and cheery.
One sings hello. Makes it like the ten syllables and ten seconds long. Goooo-ooooo-ooood moooor-oooor-ooor-niiii-iiiii-iiii-iing! Just SAY good morning, PLEASE! I am a nice person so I smile and reply "Good morning, Trish." Four friendly syllables. Trish continues down the hall singing good morning into the next three offices.
The other has a thick, sweet, southern accent. She says "Hey, you!" in a drawn out creepy flirty way. Almost like she's playing playing hide and seek with a small child and just found them. I'm serious. It'll never come across in written word but it always feels weird. This is not just for good morning. She'll pop over to my desk to ask a question and say "Hey, you." I feel like she's going to follow it up with "you sweet thannnng!"
I've never worked in an office before, or had a real kind of job in 18 years, so I'm beginning to think I'm the weird one. I can imagine I'm the "annoying quiet one who just does her work."

It would annoy me slightly. I think it’s silly and unprofessional to refer to co-workers as “kids.”
Plus, it reminds me of the days when female workers were commonly referred to as “girls.”

Wouldn't bother me at all, unless it was somebody that bothered the snot out of me for other reasons. Years ago I had to cover the help desk at 7:00am until the regular help desk person started at 8:00. We had an employee that called often during that time (usually with a problem that was the result of something that he did) and every time I answered the phone he would start out with "Top o' the mornin' to ya!" and I just wanted to repeatedly slam the phone against the desk to break his eardrum. But the guy was super annoying any time of the day, not just in the morning, and was eventually let go. I always figured it was because the execs couldn't handle his personality.

Wouldn't bother me at all. I think when something like this bothers you (general you) it is because there is more to it than just a greeting.
We had a colleague (now tragically passed away) who was 46 that would greet us everyday with a "Gday fuckers" and I miss that. We are a professional office but it was just her thing.

Nah, it's not directed at me. Ewwwwww I have sympathy annoyance. A man has to be a damn dinosaur for me to not be annoyed by that phrase.
