I have a co-worker - younger than me if it matters - who comes in every morning and says "Hi Kids". I am over 60 years old (she is 50ish). It bugs the shit out of me. OP Here - You all are right!! This particular co-worker already annoys me on countless other levels so that's probably why this bugs me too!

It is better, imo, than coming out each morning and saying “Hi Bitches!”
I’m sorry that it bothers you so much, but this one is on you and not her/him. When you get seriously annoyed at someone’s way of saying “Good Morning” in a way that is clearly not meant to be offensive, some introspection on your part as to what is really going on for you is probably warranted.
I would guess that something else about this person, or your relationship with her/him, is what is bothering you.
eta: to answer the question: no, it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest.

It wouldn't bother me. I actually thought of Spongebob Squarepants when I read it...maybe it is a reference to that.
ETA: I just realized that they say "Aye, Aye kids" in the spongebob theme song. So maybe it isn't a reference to that! LOL! It still wouldn't bother me though.

No that wouldn’t bother me and I’m 50. I’d shrug it off kind of like when the 20 something at the coffee drive thru tells me to pull up to the window Hon, after ordering.

I’d just think it was friendly and familiar! When my class gets together we often greet each other as a group as “hey friends”, or “hey, fam!” or something like that.

Much better than them coming in a saying nothing and being miserable. It sounds quite cheery to me. And it’s once a day. Nope - wouldn’t bother me.

I'll validate you a little - it would annoy me a bit because to me kids are children (elementary school or younger - I wouldn't even use collectively for tweens/teens) and it seems like an unprofessional address for adults. But I wouldn't linger on it - I would chalk it of to people being different and move on.
If you're overly annoyed by it, it's probably one of several things that annoy you about this co-worker

Another one (and I will be 55 in a couple of months) on the “not annoyed” team. Sorry it bothers you, though. I am happy whenever anyone gives a greeting, and I don’t think there is absolutely anything offensive about that one.

To be honest, it would depend on whether or not I liked the person.

I can see how it could be annoying. Sometimes it's the repetitiveness and predictability of the phrase that is more annoying than the actual phrase itself. I know I got overly annoyed by a certain phrase my coworker used every single morning.

Could you she be playing around by calling you all kids because you are older?
It wouldn’t bother me, I would just assume she is being friendly.

Answer her with "Hey old lady". bahahahahahaha.
Seriously, not a blip on the radar, unless she were in her 20s/30s. Then, to me, it would seems kinda flippant. Someone closer to your own age, nah. Not a big deal. Said every morning, I could see how anything would become grating though.

Are you normally that touchy or is it just because it comes from this person? I think being annoyed by her usual, standard greeting is a waste of thought and energy on your part.

Nope. Wouldn't bother me in the least. However, I do think it would be funny to respond with goat sounds - "Good Daa-aa-ay, to you old lady".

To be honest, it would depend on whether or not I liked the person. If I liked the person it probably wouldn’t phase me. But if I didn’t like the person it would probably be like that “bitch eating crackers” meme where everything they did would annoy me.

I would guess that something else about this person, or your relationship with her/him, is what is bothering you. This. My first thought was to say it wouldn’t bother me in the least. However, at my last job there was one person that bothered me every time she opened her mouth. So, tbh, I think for me, it would depend on whether or not I liked the person saying it. Not the phrase itself, if that makes sense.

Meh - not really.
I hate the guy at a local pizza parlor who always calls me "young lady." I'm almost 55, he's about 35. It's condescending and obnoxious.
But "hi kids" to everyone? Nah, it's not directed at me.

Nah, doesn't annoy me. I'm over 60 and most people I work with are early 20s-40ish. I laugh to myself when they say 'you're not old'. I don't mind getting old--I get to retire in a few months, so yay for me!

This would probably not bother me, unless I don't like her, as others said.
