My hands are looking oldish. I think of them as proof of life and somewhat as battle scars.

I had eczema as a child so my hands have always look old to me. DH says they don't, but I have never had that lovely smooth, elastic, pretty skin on my hands. It's fine everywhere else, thankfully.
What I AM noticing is a dewlap under my chin, where the skin no longer bounces back when I pinch it. I wish there was a way of tightening that up without surgery.

I never even thought of putting sun screen on my hands all those yrs. Dumb I know. I've been doing it since my skin cancer removal back in 2009.
I tried a mineral sunscreen last month, and noticed the white zinc or whatever settling into the crevices on my arms and hands. I couldn't wash it off!
I posted here asking about soaps and whatnot, but couldn't find anything to work. And the white crap was STILL THERE. I reckon it wouldn't have been so noticable if my skin wasn't 56 years old.
Switched back to the chemical sunscreen, and now I don't have to endure the truth about the changes in my skin.
As for my hands, it's mostly the veins that I notice. Maybe the last decade of sunscreen have kept the age spots at bay. I do have an ugly one on my right arm above my wrist. You just don't realize how much sun exposure you get while driving-- ALL OF MY SKIN CANCERS have been removed from my left side, where the sun gets me as I drive.

This is so funny! My sister and I started sending pictures of our hands to each other probably 15 years ago...so I would have been 40...she would have been 46...and captioning with "MOM'S!" We've both inherited our mom's hands...I don't think they look especially OLD, but they are startling, and the liver spots are starting.
I work my face wash and moisturizer into my hands every morning (and night when I think about it), and I think it's helped. It's supposed to help my face from falling down, so it can't hurt.
I also am on the hunt for the perfect hand cream for winter. I can't seem to find one that's emollient AND not sticky.
A little off topic here, but when did you notice your face COLLAPSING on itself as you slept? My goodness, that woman in the mirror in the morning suddenly needs 20 minutes or so for her face to become recognizable again....

I noticed how old my hands looked at BUNCO about 10 years ago. I played with women around my age and my hands looked the oldest with age spots and such. I got RX lotion to bleach spots from dermatologist and it did not good. Most of the time my hands look older then my mothers! My sister does not have any age spots which is surprising as she is fairer than I am.

Mine isn't so much my hands as it is my nails. I've always had very strong, quick growing nails. They have always had vertical lines in them (just like my paternal grandmother's nails) but never any issues with those lines. In the last couple months, my ring finger and thumb nails are now splitting on the middle vertical line. It's so foreign to me to have nail issues. I've never been able to do any kind of fake nails because mine grow so dang fast. I would need a fill every week. I don't have time and don't want to spend the money on that. A friend of mine is hosting a fingernail wrap party right now, so I just ordered some wraps to see if that will help stem the splitting. Plus I was told to make sure I am working my hand lotion into my cuticles really well, that those vertical lines are nail "wrinkles". Not sure about that since I've had them forever, but I'll try anything at this point.
My hands don't have any spots yet and the only change I really have seen in my actual hands was about 6 years ago when I lost 60 lbs. My fingers/hands don't carry as much weight so the skin is a little baggy, but not really wrinkly yet.

I have always had old looking hands. My brother has the issue as well. It’s not as big a deal on a guy but mine looked old and wrinkly even in high school. 🤭

I never thought of sunscreen either for my hands. Maybe that’s why my hands look older than they are. I grew up on the beach of Hawaii so that could explain it.

I was looking at a photograph of Priscilla Presley and I wonder if she had something done to them. It could have been photoshopped, but the back of her hands looked pretty good, but her fingers looked old.
